Earlier today, my son and DIL came by for lunch and,as is the usual case in this house (unless U of KY Basketball or the KY Derby is showing on TV), the entertainment was sitting around talking about what's going on in the world. Son brought up something I'd thought about but hadn't bothered to mention because it's so obvious it doesn't seem important ... something I think everyone already knows.
He said that western civilization brought a lot of the problems with those of the Islamic persuasion on itself by way of PC based on what we've been taught all our lives - "BE NICE TO COMPANY."
Don't use the convenience foods, cook from scratch when company is coming. Hang out the good towels, it's company today. Please don't pass food across the table - we have company.
We aren't so bad about that now, but when I was growing up it was the standard way of doing things. I suspect it hangs on in our minds, life long, subconsciously.
So, at what point do we wake up and realize those who sympathize with terrorists are NOT our company?

The penny might finally be dropping... I hope.

Sadly, a lot of people are awake and that is, as far as the politicians are concerned, most unwelcome. People are talking - social media etc - and they are clamping down on that as hard as they can. They still believe Islam can be integrated - god knows in what form - they are in denial.
Wahaabism and Salafism are the enemy, they don't do getting along...

Well, in spite of the fact that some are bound to be good guys, they have to be considered as less-than-guests, I think. Remember the old superstition about vampires? If you "invite" them in, you're doomed? That approach may be better than leaving the door wide open and cookies on the table.

I've heard some ridiculous ideas in my time but the idea that political correctness is somehow to blame for Islamic terrorism is about the most stupid one I've come across since I read the theory that JFK committed suicide!

PC gives it carte blanche. Quite so, and as such it HAS facilitated the rise in islamic terrorism...

PC is part and parcel of the attitudes that have encouraged the western countries to let huge numbers of eastern immigrants come in and set up terrorist activity from the inside. it's akin to charity and kindness ... things we've long taken pride in offering. Hard not see that, but I guess some folks wear blinders.

The strategy is to attack the weakness and that weakness is our (western) humanity. Just look at the violence in Islamic lands, it gets pretty depraved. They place a much lower value on human life including their own

We wish to live; the islamist welcomes death, with the promises of all sorts of goodies in the afterlife - particularly if you got topped whilst fighting for your sky fairy...

and
at the bottom of it all is "our" golden rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The problem is .. it isn't their golden rule and nobody told them "turn about is fair play" or that "fair" is a positive option.

The problem is .. it isn't their golden rule and nobody told them "turn about is fair play" or that "fair" is a positive option. Absolutely. They regard our generosity & kindness as weakness; one which can, and is, exploited to the full. As the saying has it, "East is East, West is West, & ne'er the twain shall meet". Sadly, despite the wishful thinking of some, in many cases that is very, very true.

One of the first really long poems I ever had to memorize. Who do you think those two strong men will be ... or is it just Kipling's little fantasy? Oh, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet, Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God’s great Judgment Seat; But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth, When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth!
