no it isn't slavery at all..a slave works for NOTHING Hi Mouse, A slave does not work for nothing. They are given food, clothing and shelter in exchange for their work, under normal conditions they would have to pay for these things themselves out of the wage, if they were receiving one. Everything costs and has to be paid for.!!! you make it sound almost acceptable..lucky them food and shelter and clothes in exchange for their work.....and being owned

They weren't all treated badly. It is normal to work to support yourself, and that's what they were doing, with board and lodgings thrown in.

I'm basing my observations on what I hear about what has been going on in Africa. They rape at the drop of a hat, they murder in a similar fashion, especially albinos, they are primitive in their outlook, they have only learned because of the white people occupying their country. Females still have most parts of their genitals cut off, which very often lead to their death. That doesn't sound like the Garden of Eden to me.

Slavery anywhere is unpaid work for people who receive basic benefits ie enough food and shelter to keep them alive so they can put another had shift in. Why shouldn't the unemployed work for benefits? Well to stop companies sacking all their workers and rehiring them as slaves. Further to that is totally inhumane and immoral. Al companies who use it are exploiting it, if they have a job they should pay a wage, what is to stop them progressively sacking their workers and rehiring them as slaves? Nothing! It is disgusting and should be illegal. Which jobs do you think are best performed by slaves by the way? I have a few jobs that need doing, where do I get one of these slaves from? I reckon I could put quite a few companies out of business using this slave labour. actually slavery is where your owned body and soul. a slave has NO CHOICES..where he or she lives..no choices as to what work they do......you do NOT get paid..you do exactly as your told because some body OWNS YOU...THAT IS SLAVERY That is essentially workfare, they can't find work, but miraculous work can be found if it is slave labour, so you so have a choice, work as a slave or die, same as in all slavery. The state owns you.

Africans had a social structure...and nations and ethnic groups .with laws and traditions norms and practises equal to Europes ..different in look and practise..but still equal what you see and hear of today is not relevant to the time of slavery... and in fact is not even relevant to the ENTIRE continent of Africa today....which was and is as diverse in languages..cultures and tradition as Europe EG the rain forrest peoples have NO word for RAPE they do not understand the concept of rape """Females for the MOST part DO NOT HAVE THEIR GENITALS CUT OFF"" that applys to parts of North Africa and Arabia """Boys were circumcised and even that process is very different than the myths"" """they have only learned because of the white people occupying their country""" bollox...

Seems you are in favor of slavery safe in the knowledge you wont be forced into it. No the system is not abuse, the unemployed are being abused by greedy heartless folk like you. You demonisation of the unemployed is the same as Hitlers demonstration of the Jews, you are speaking the language of murder. Disgraceful. Pure evil. Similar arguments were used for enslaving blacks in the past. Sickening stuff.

At age 51, I took two different minimum wage jobs to keep money coming in and show my sons I wasn't above taking a menial job to keep us going, one was in an unheated warehouse in the winter...allday with no heat....even lunchroom was cold....all for $7.25/hour

Workfare is a work programme aimed at the long-term unemployed. People desperate to work will find work, any paid work. No they won't that is a lie. You can't find what is not there. It is shameful you support slavery. I doubt you would be in favour of it if you are forced into it. Here is a definition of slavery from Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery): Slavery is a legal or economic system in which principles of property law are applied to humans allowing them to be classified as property,[1] to be owned, bought and sold accordingly, and they cannot withdraw unilaterally from the arrangement. While a person is enslaved, the owner is entitled to the productivity of the slave's labour, without any remuneration. The rights and protection of the slave may be regulated by laws and customs in a particular time and place, and a person may become a slave from the time of their capture, purchase or birth. Today, chattel slavery is unlawful in all countries of the West, but in non-West countries a person may still be described as a slave if he or she is forced to work for another person without an ability on their part to unilaterally terminate the arrangement. Such situations are today commonly referred to as "practices similar to slavery". The present form of the slave trade is commonly referred to as human trafficking. Slavery existed before written history and in many cultures.[2] It was once institutionally recognized by most societies, but has now been outlawed in all recognized countries,[3][4] the last being Mauritania in 2007. Chattel slavery is still practiced in areas controlled by ISIS. In other areas slavery continues through such practices as debt bondage, serfdom, domestic servants kept in captivity, certain adoptions in which children are forced to work as slaves, child soldiers, human trafficking, and forced marriage.[5] Accordingly, there are more slaves today than at any time in history, with an estimated 45 million slaves worldwide.[6] 1. "Modern slavery estimated to trap 45 million people worldwide". nytimes.com. 31 May 2016. Retrieved 1 June 2016. Keep in mind that these things are the result of the core values of the society and they are all illegal in the West. In societies that are run by some religions (such as Islam) Slavery is still legal.
