it's an absolute that using abortion for birth control is inherently wrong. whether it is wrong on its face, i don't know. i DO know that, if it is wrong, the woman is going to have to explain it to god, not to me Yes, But it irks people like me, that a normal, healthy woman, with a healthy fetus, who had sex by her own choice, simply wasn't careful kills her child because she didn't take the measures to avoid getting pregnant in the first place. AK it irks me too. there is NO justification, of any kind, good enough for an abortion in such an instance. i'm sure that god isn't going to pay attention to stupid excuses like that my point was just that god will make her wish that she hadn't done it. it's not up to me to do so

why bring god into the equasion..and which god ?? abortion predates all the gods of today.. abortion natural or induced is not good for a woman health the best thing for any woman is a good understanding and availability of birth control methods and practise of course the other side of this argument is men where is the argument about them not creating the NEED for abortions how many men have been attacked for creating the need for abortion? where is the emphasis on males and contraception... in this argument the responsibilities of the men are never mentioned

"... any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee." - John Donne
The term, "Capitol Punishment," is a misnomer. The "punishment" isn't actually a penalty; it's intended as a deterrent to the taking of the life of another.
How's that working so far?
My father was a policeman in our town. He once told me that most killings were crimes of passion... that they were usually a spur of the moment thing... that they were the result of highly-charged emotional settings where things went wrong. The sort of planned murders where someone makes a conscious choice to kill another are rare, but even then, they were the result of flawed thinking, and a temporary loss of sanity... a loss of control.
Missing from the article is why the crime occurred, although there is the admission that there was a desire for money. It's not hard to imagine that the money would have been used to purchase drugs, which is probably at the heart of the story... and the true villain.
Almost daily we hear or read news stories of how young white people storm into a pharmacy pretending to have a hand gun, and demanding prescription drugs from the pharmacists -- something they'd never think of doing had drugs not been the principal motivation.
Capital Punishment should be abolished if for no other reason that so many innocent people have been executed.

The term, "Capitol Punishment," is a misnomer. The "punishment" isn't actually a penalty; it's intended as a deterrent to the taking of the life of another. From Dictionary.com: Punishment: 1.The infliction or imposition of a penalty as retribution for an offense. Penalty: 1. a punishment imposed or incurred for a violation of law or rule. 2. a loss, forfeiture, suffering, or the like, to which one subjects oneself by nonfulfillment of some obligation. (ibid.)By those definitions, death may be imposed as retribution for a criminal act. Deterrence isn't relevant if the primary purpose of killing someone is retribution. Also, it can be proven deductively that at least one person on earth has refrained from committing murder because of a fear of being executed. One is all it takes to support the deterrence argument. Capital Punishment should be abolished if for no other reason that so many innocent people have been executed. Every day innocent people are killed as a result of government policy, in all 50 states. Several things are more important than human life, including justice.

They actually had a point before the 1960s. A man tells a woman he's sterile. Don't worry about a thing, he says. Is she supposed to trust him? Is she supposed to believe him? Does she? Even if she does, she takes birth control or uses contraception anyway. Why not? Women have assumed responsibility for their fertility simply because they could.

Thunder> Capital Punishment should be abolished if for no other reason that so many innocent people have been executed. Akamai> Please name a definitively proven ONE in the USA in the past 100 years? Since you cannot, how do you justify the use of the word "MANY" when you cannot name ONE? AK

WRONG all the way around. first of all, it is an irrefutable FACT that there has not been a single factually innocent individual executed in the u.s. since 1976. when you begin from such a false premise, everything that follows is false. nonetheless, there are very few who use drugs because someone is holding a gun to their head forcing them to. drug addiction is NOT an excuse for committing crime

Although there must have been some before 1976, there are none definitively proven. Between 1976 and present, there are people who have been exonerated from Death Row, with only two that I know of who were proven definitively innocent, with none that were executed who were proven innocent posthumously. you are partially right. women assume responsibility for their fertility PRIMARILY because most men are trash, and lie There is no moral, legal or financial incentive for men to be responsible for pregnancy, and that's never going to change as long as women are capable of controlling their reproduction.

Anyone who would contest that is an idiot. You are wrong. While the probability is that an innocent has been executed, math is an excact science, and what is probable cannot be accepted as "fact". So, it cannot be definitively proven mathematically, that any innocent has been executed in the past 100 years. No matter what other statistics you look at, NONE will definitively prove any innocent has been executed in the USA in the past 100 years. Nada, Zip, Zero. Ak
