August chat starts here.
The rain has brought in chilly temperatures for the first time in 2 months or so. No AC needed.

beautiful morning after a wet night...its already quite warm..and there is some cutti g back to be done friends coming around later and we shall be able to see out without either being burnt or freezing ..so things are getting back to normal summer activities..especially for one friend who had an op on her shoulder who is now able to drive short distances again after being relient on daughter and others to ferry her about ..trouble is she is a couple of miles away and the only route is across a narrow single file road bridge leading to a narrow road on which the retaining wall has had to be rebuilt [as the cost of millions]this has resulted in chaos as trees also had to be chopped and traffic lights were installed which constantly broke down there is an alternative not a road but for single[person] file path through the woods and across the river but we were all concerned that if she slipped it would redamage the shoulder

Many thanks for the August Calendar, Annie. Simple, yet charming.

had an appointment at the haior dressers but its closed due to illness... grrrrrrrr my catteract op was not 100%sucesfull and have been to-ing and fro-ing having eye scans and tests etc .. any way there is no improvement in my sight and what I have is macular degeneration..[am in good company as both Maggie Smith and Judy Dench have the same problem]... I have canceled the removal of catteracts on the right eye because there was no real chance of it improving that eye either...but the surgeon says I can have it done at any time that I feel it necessary so I shall have to make do with much upgraded glasses for the time being and think about having the right eye done in a couple of years or so I am disappointed as I really wanted to do away with glasses and my sight to improve … still there are worse things that happen right now though until I get new glasses.. its all a bit hit and miss and now have three different ways of seeing things and it makes walking rather an uncertainty ..bit like walking on a bouncy castle .
its getting warmer although so far no sun has come out ..I shall take out my angst on the garden

mouse, I want to wish you all the best of luck with the eye problems. I once had a neighbor lady with that same ailment. The thing I remember most is that she used very large, bright light bulbs throughout her house, especially at night. That was about 10 years ago. Hopefully, they have new and better treatment since then.

We had a nice cooling rain and now the sun is going now with colored clouds for escort. Nice breeze, too, after a week of scorching days. Just to cap things off, I have 2 days off work.

beautiful morn ing again,,, it rained during the night so every where its crystal clean.. now its cooler we can all enjoy our gardens again...if it were a regular thing to have good hot summers we would all live differently and thus adapt to heat and sunshine in a more sensible manner... but this could be the last decent summer for years....so we grab every chance to enjoy but have to say its been fantastic to see all the bright summer colours that people have worn... and not having to lug cardigans/jackets/umbrellas every where hasd been a fabulous bonus

I've changed my workload around so that I'm outside in the mornings and inside doing paperwork under the AC in the afternoon. Most days it works out. Today, we're off to the swimming pool.

I hope you have a happy visit, mouse. The roads in life our family members take often become connected to our own if only by happenstance and here-say. One of my daughters has been in California visiting a friend. She has gotten a closer view of the latest fire that she'd have liked but says she'll never forget it, so it must have been quite an experience.
Enjoy your family. If you feel as I do, they are all treasures.
