I gather they have a whole range available as friend in hospital was given a booklet of titles when in hospital .. I don't have one as for off topic...Alexa listen carefully.. back off...…okay so exactly what is the topic ? spying.. intrusion of privacy ,,,the tentative steps of a big brother society,, technology in the home ..toys that come back to bite.. the over loading of electrical devices in society in the home and for the individual Mouse, here's the address. They have all kinds of choices, old and new. They are very very popular with people where I work, both the nurses and technicians on break or split shifts, and with patients. You don't have to use Alexa - although it's handy, you can get an ap for your phone or computer or whatever. audible.com I'm going to get the Bob Woodward book, Fear, for my May choice. It will take me all month to find time to read it but it'll be worth the trouble, I think. thakyou Anna.. but I really do not need audio books.....and as I mentioned the hospital I attend has a complete list of audio books[ to choose from

We have an Alexa that's used to play music, not so long ago I found a file on one of my Computers and it related to Alexa, I had asked it, " Are you spying on us Alexa", and there it was in writing in the file together with other things we had asked, spelling is perfect too !!

There's no point arguing with you, mouse. All it does is take the thread off topic. So what audio books are you other people reading now? Do they have non-fiction? They DO have non-faction and all other kinds of books, from the familiar to the obscure. When you go to audible.com, choose "classics" to browse and you will get an idea of the wide variety of choices. I have 2 on my wish list for May, The Great Gatsby and All Creatures Great and Small. I may add The Poisonwood Bible. Those 3 should make a good month's read. Choosing what to get is half the fun.

A few years ago, I read one of the Bill Bryson travel books and never went on to read the rest. I'd like to find those again. Maybe I'll go have a look.

Moving this thread so we can talk about using audio books with Alexa and other devises. This is working out well for me. My Alexa is in my bedroom which I have to myself, so I can read what and when I please.
I'm just now finishing up my April book order and getting ready for the May books next week. This month was -
Good Omens ... a re-read. Very funny. It's been made into a TV movie for this summer so I wanted to refresh my memory.
Plum Island .... one of those good Nelson De Mille books (suspense) starring John Corey, a great character. Enjoyed it all over again.
Neon Prey, a mystery (of sorts) by John Sandford, who used to be a favorite of mine. This is a new one, just released, and a big disappointment. It's a little much for me, though I like his continuing character, Lucas Davenport and I'm sure I'll read others with that character. This one has a disgusting villian ... not only a cold blooded killer but a cannibel as well! Too much!
Those were part of the introductory package, so, free. In May, I'll have to pay for all but one, although at a cut rate price. It means being a bit more selective.
If anyone else decides to try audible.com, share your experiences here, please. Also, feel free to review the books you've read.

Was Stanford's cannibal a nice, suave Hannibel Lecter wanna-be or was he gross and barbaric?

No, this one is rough even when he isn't killing people. I stopped reading it about half way through. That's not to say I won't read John Sandford books again but not that one.
If anyone else has an excellent book to recommend, please do. I have my May books selected - 2 re-reads and a new one. More about that another time

More about that another time I have finished the Sue Grafton book I got and still have 2 free books coming to me through Audible.com. I am thinking I'll go with one non-fiction and, then, another fiction. Perhaps a romance and a biography.

Good choice. My wife discovered something kind of cool this morning. You can go to audible.com and choose books to put on your "wish list". Then you'll have a chance to sample thast book with about 4 minutes of reading by the actual reader. I haven't tried it yet but she says it's a great way to see if you're comfortable with the reader.

A woman I work with got the Bruce Springsteen biography and hem read himself! She said he wasn't the best reader but it was all that much more endearing, especially if you're a fan like she is. Stephen King reads his books for the audio versions sometimes.

I did not realize I could listen to a sample!
Thank you very much for that information, Dex.

I'm reading James A. Michener's Alaska, right now.
I find it difficult to read anything less than 1,000 pages.
