a grey overcast morning..in spite of forcast showing a hot sunny non cloudy day had a lovely time in the garden yesterday..tweaking here and there in 10 min bursts of activity with sit downs in between..really enjoyed my self..and am looking to repeat the process today nearly DIL really enjoyed her American trip and full of praise for the lovely kind generous people she met......and nearly grandson 3 is still there having another 3weeks to go before he returns ..at the moment he is in San somewhere New Mexico...he went on a camping trip..and found himself surrounded by 4/5 Wolves..he and his friend had stupidly left food out......seems they were pretty scared at the time...but lived to tell the tale thanks to the local police who came out in response to a phone call
am only posting this as its a postitive well deserved praise for the police and people of America[instead of the down news of shootings etc ]all too often the decent peoples of countries are overlooked]

Oops! We used to have a problem now and then with the wild life while camping but no wolves that I know of. He was very lucky. Thanks for the nice post. Being here in the midst of things, I usually see nice surroundings and warm, gracious, generous people. The media are quick to pick out the exceptions for maximum attention. How delightful your family is getting ready to grow. Hope your day is everything you want it to be.

A day at the ice skating rink. You definitely won't see me at the winter Olympics It's better to start young if you want to be a good ice skater. I didn't learn til I was a teen and have never been very good at it. We go in the winter when the big outdoor rink in the park opens up. The more you go the better you'll get.

Hi Anna 26, I love watching the skating. I remember a funny incident as a teenager when ice skating. I was wearing a crepe dress. And I fell so many times the back of my dress had shrunk and I was inadvertently showing my knickers. Who would have expected that to happen?

... and the dog days drag on. Soooo hot and humid. I had hoped to stay in today, but of course something came up that required a drive across the river, into the heat of the city .. playing tag with the metro buses on 4th street in the midst of the rush hour traffic. Glad to be back, glad to be here. I did bring home a seedless watermelon and a jug of sweet tea. Add a tuna salad sandwich and there's supper. Back to school is in full swing. I was talking with a friend whose son is going into 1st grade this year. She said the school had bought Apple tablets for each student in grades 1, 2, and 3. Wondering whether they were able to do that by saving money NOT buying books. Hi Beth, I think they are trying to save the cutting down of trees.

I'm not sure if that's true. I see lots of young kids (<10 years) on the ice; some are not good; some are excellent. I'm more inclined to believe it's more to do with your aptitudes. Like riding a bike; you either can or can't. My eldest son can get around the ice quite comfortably but my youngest clings to the wall for dear life I learnt when I was around 13/14 but didn't have any real training. I move around quite smoothly but probably not gracefully. I'm not speedy and and can always become a cropper any moment. I'd really love to be able to skate backwards! I've watched a few videos on YouTube. It's probably not that difficult but telling myself it's really difficult is holding me back. That and the embarrassment of falling on the ice I think I need someone to teach me though.

I guess they're trying to bring these kids into the hi-tech age as gently and efficiently as possible. The expense of gadgets puts them out of affordable range for a lot of folks. They can manage a computer and phones, but then it gets tedious to supply the kids with pads and pods and replace them when they are broken or fall into the bathtub. It's nice when the schools pick up some of the slack.

Hi Beth, Our school children have been given lap tops. All the businesses are trying to do everything by computer now in order to cease sending bills and letters. Because trees have to be cut down in order to make paper.

My car is a 2009 Mouse. I love having a car with no payments! It's great and I love my car. Hubby asks me every so often if I want a new one and I always so no! I take care of it and get regular maintenance so no way!!!
Hope everyone has a great day! Stay safe out there!!

Sadie, isn't that mostly people who lease instead of buy to own cars that trade them in every year?
I'm on my lunch break so don't have much time. Maybe I'll come back later.
