I have no idea. I've never had a cat. Know next to nothing about them. You can ask away. We've always had cats and have found one is usually better than more. You'll need to provide a litter box and change it out every few days. The other option is to have a way for kitty to go out when there's a need. I do the litter, Fret does the cat-door. Otherwise, a couple of toys, a little attention and healthy food (including some greens occasionally), and cats do better at taking care of themselves than dogs.

Hard to let go of the weekend although the heat wave, which was supposed to have "broken" on Friday .. and each day since .. lingers on. The last week of vacation for most U.S. public school kids. Hope you all have a good'un. Good night America, Good morning England and happy mid-day to Shades. Lassie should be somewhere in between and good wishes to her as well.

Luckily it's not my choice to have the kitten so my responsibility is limited I'm sure I'll grow to love it and spoil it, and we'll be best mates but that's enough for me. I'll let others deal with the mundane things like food and litter trays. I'm not sure about a cat-flap; this little kitten is gonna be an indoor cat as we're on the 10th floor. I'm sure she'll be fine with that. Even last night she snuggled up to my legs and had a nap on the sofa

Sounds like you're on top of things. 3 quick hints - shots, neutering and claw clipping. This is Maxx, 7 yrs old.

Went out for an evening walk and came back with a kitten what a pretty little thing she is...boy or girl ?? and what is it called.. a friend of ours also lived many floor up in a flat....they bought a cat lead and took their cat[Archie] out evenings and early mornings...a scratching post is always a good idea...save the ruination of furniture

We've got bright sun and blue sky today too. That's one handsome cat, Beth. I saw another pci of him, must have been on one of the pets threads.

We are back, but still on vacation. We are going off to PA in a few days to visit friends. Back here off and on until after Labor Day.
Nice to see you all.

beth I had to look up the meaning of calico :embarrassed_face When you go out, do you just leave your cat to roam free? How often do you come back to a trashed home?

beth I had to look up the meaning of calico :embarrassed_face When you go out, do you just leave your cat to roam free? How often do you come back to a trashed home? Maxx is 7 and doesn't act out from being left alone for reasonable periods of time. Also, I have a multi-person household with someone usually here. What's more, I have a sun porch that can be shut off, and a basement (see pic I posted) where he can hang out when there's a party or company. You'll probably learn by trial and error. Yours is a kitten ... a different matter because she'll go through a number of stages. Once you have the shots and spay out of the way, just take it a little at a time. Be sure she can get to water and the litter box if she's alone during the day. Cats are hard to train, they prefer to train their owners, but can become accustomed to staying in a confined area as long as it isn't for too long at a time. There's a lot of information you can access via Google to give you a better idea. There will always be accidents. That's part of having a pet. But, little by little, you'll get used to her and she'll get used to you. I think it's worth the effort. bluebuffalo.com/articles/cat/how-to-take-care-of-kittens/

According to the article....
The difference between a tortoiseshell and a calico cat is that calico cats also have white on their bodies, while tortoiseshells do not.
This one must be a calico.
