Hot as 'ell and humid too. This won't break without rain. I'm half day at work today. Leaving soon to go with my wife for the back to school shopping trip. I liked it better when school started the day after labor day in September. Staples and K-Mart have reasonable prices on the basics. Good luck.

Back to school time - a terrible time for parents. When I was a kid, I can't remember my mother frantically rushing to the shops to get me new bits and pieces for the school term. You just took what you had from the previous term. But that was a long time ago; memory fades quickly

Try not to overdo but have fun. Our heat wave is about to break. We got up to overcast skies with back door thermometer already in the high 80s. The weather report says storms to start tomorrow and hang on for 3 or 4 days. No plans for the weekend, just the Weekend Music Quiz and cold drinks.

Thanks Annie We got the back packs at Target and everything else at Staples. Then, last thing, we went to Kohl's for shoes. They're ready to go.

But that was a long time ago; memory fades quickly It really has changed a lot .. even from the few years ago when my youngest was still in the public school system. Makes me feel out of step. I can't imagine how the I-Pad is going to take the place of various books and lesson plans.

Still in the grips of the hottest part of summer with no relief in sight until Sunday .. according to accu-weather. We should have some rain tomorrow but it won't be enough to bring the temps down. Storms are forecast for the next day and that should, finally, help.
To have gorgeous fall foliage, we need lots of rain at the end of summer, tapering off to mild, dry weather in September. It doesn't happen that way every year but is's great when it does.

Cute cat. Looks like it will be a long hair, too. Boy or girl?

Went out for an evening walk and came back with a kitten She's pretty. Looks a little like Fret's adopted cat. Is it true calicoes are always female?

I have no idea. I've never had a cat. Know next to nothing about them.
