its a cold one with the wind coming in from the north east...its never good when the wind is in that direction as the chill seems to get into every nook and crevice we have one permerment draught where it comes from we haven't a clue..as we have searched and search for it over the years we have been here...but with no luck what so ever...its one of lifes mysterys...especially as the walls are solid and all doors and window are tight as ticks one of the garden gates fell to pieces in the earlier gales...so that will have to be replaced...never ends does it talking of living near offspring...mine keep talking of joining up and buying a large house and all living together...together but separate...much as I love them and their company...I think I prefer a little space my two sons are so different I don't think it would work being under the same roof....still as they say..talks cheap

Don't knock it til you try it, mouse. My parents have a big house and my brother and his wife live with them. They all chip in on expenses and get along great. Plus, they are very very comfortable. It's in the teens F today. Too cold but my sweetie is taking me out to dinner for Valentine's Day.

Snow coming down. I had to make a quick trip to the market and to Walgreen's with a stop for gas in between. The street clearing trucks are not out yet and it's quite slick. Forecasting 2 to 4 inches this time around.
I hear you Annie. After a divorce, years ago, my 2 children and I lived with my mom and dad for a year. It was a big house, we all pitched in and in many ways it was a happy time. They cried when we moved out on our own ... told us to always feel their home was our home. We never moved back, but the children stayed with them often as they were growing up and everyone was good with that arrangement.

It is just a question of personal preference. I would rather live near family members. If those who live near me now were to move, I'd probably relocate to TE to be near others. Stay with what suits you, Chef. Hi Jessiealan, sometimes being too close can cause problems when young married children can come to rely too much on their parents advice instead of working out their own problems. I have a grandson who runs back to his parents everytime they have a quarrel and his partner hates his parents no doubt for this reason. My daughter should put her foot down and not allow him to stay. It's plain stupidity as far as I am concerned. I would say it depends on the family; wouldn't you, Lassie? My family is close, with all willing to go out of their way for any of the others. I can't imagine any other way of doing things, but so much depends on the people involved. If off-spring and inlaws do not get along, it is always better to go their separate ways and not complicate their chances for happiness with friction.

We're in KY ... almost a southern state .. and think we should be spared ... never mind that it happens almost every winter.

My workplace is closed for the day because the parking lot has not been treated and is piled up with snow AND because they have some frozen water pipes. I get a "home day" I didn't expect but am glad not to have to go out. Very cold and not very inviting. Going to cook something good ... don't know what, yet, but have plenty of supplies. Be back in a little more than usual.

The roads were so bad last night that we cancelled out on the Valentine supper and stayed home. We'll try it again next weekend.
More snow is forecast for tonight. Seems like a lot of winter all at once.

It is too cold to be outside comfortably, even with a coat and long slacks. The wind is like ice. One needs a face cover to walk into it.
It will be wonderful to see the end of this and welcome spring!

bitterly cold with a hard frost...in fact I felt chilly as I was waking up....very unusual as this is a warm house which doesn't get cold at all....any way the heating kicked in and its all cosy again were burning elm logs at the moment in the multi fuel...my word but it gives out some heat I forgot to say it tried to snow on Saturday...big flakes for about 3mins and then no more...but the wind is still coming from the north east...so any thing could happen not doing very much at the moment certainly no jaunts..of which ive missed out on some good ones....but one I really don't wish to miss has been postponed till I can join in.... which I do think is very kind of those involved so every one wrap up warm \and stay well

I take a daily quota of pills and tablets - probably everyone intent on stretching 'middle age' to its elastic limit is. This daily pill collection, I am told, is to encourage my continued well-being. None are specifically intended to quash or ward off any particular disease or disablement. But not until this morning did I tumble the purpose of one of those pills. It is to stop me forgetting to take my pills! PS What pills?
