Our temps are dropping as well, windchill of -20c happening this coming week. Possibly some sanity by Friday, but who knows really. That's way too cold, Sugi. Hang in there and get well.

It is rainy and mild here today. There is your proof, Jumbo. We have had several cold days with sun. Now, we have clouds and rain with temperatures in the high 50s F. Mouse, if you lived near, I would keep you supplied with nutritious sweets. We made banana nut bread yesterday and it is still nice and moist. Should last all weekend. Beth, you need to bring it in here and pass it around. I'd like the choco covered brazil nut, please. Too late, Jessie. Daughter and her friends discovered it last night. There are a few left but as I was helping myself to one (just one), I noticed these chocolates are all creams. I got maple cream and it was very good.

it was 29°F last evening; it has been dipping in the thirties every night for about a week now.....just typical Northern California weather. still on hold for moving further north until an apartment opens........#7 on the list so having to maintain patience.....I've already waited one year and am anxious to get going again and resettled. Where were you on the list when you first moved up north, Chris? Hope your number comes up sooner than later. 29 F sounds a might chilly for CA. Hang in there.

I've been on the list for a year and slowly moving forward.....the sad part is in order to get an apartment three things have to happen, the current tenant dies, goes to nursing home as they can no longer care for themselves or they move. I hear about one a month passes away so I will eventually get there and settle in. I love this area but it's just to rural for me with the nearest Walmart 27 miles away. It's warming up slightly but still chilly.

Cold today but colder Wednesday into Sunday, according to the most recent forecast. Snow started about 10 p.m. and there was enough accumulation that the road scrapers were out and about in the wee hours. The light snow cover will be on the ground for a few more days, I suppose.
I'm going to be out of town from Thursday afternoon until sometime on Saturday. Looking forward to a change of scenery for a couple of days.

Hmph. So much for being home tomorrow. Just past Cuxhaven, outward bound from the Elbe, & suddenly there's a big 'BANG' and the main engine stops. Couldn't get her restarted, but fortunately we were able to anchor in a safe place without assistance. After checking all the obvious stuff, it's time to apply Occam's Razor. Looking elsewhere, I decided to check inside the crankcase. To my horror, I saw the two halves of the lower gearwheel that drives the camshaft from the crankshaft lying in the bottom of the crankcase...
There followed a VERY interesting phone call to the office. Upshot was that the engine builders don't want me to do anything, as it's a Warranty claim. A decision now has to be made as to where we will go for repairs. Oh, deep joy...
At least we're all safe & the ship is safe smiley 1

Thank goodness it was something that can be repaired without danger to all of you aboard.

Looks as though my 3 day trip won't happen this week. The weather forecast is warning us of single digits ... possibly dropping into the minus and danger of frostbite. Nobody wants to be out and about in that, unnecessarily. I have a little longer until work starts again so we'll watch for a better forecast and give it another try, soon.
