a beautiful morning.. so am assuming the fire is out .. its not where we thought it was the distances of smoke can be misleading and its actually not our near moorland around 6 milles away as the crow flies [much further by road seems it started on sunday and it was thought to be out then it flared up again yesterday.. by 3-30 I had to go in and shut all windows and doors .. at one stage I couldn't see the hill in front of the house and the smell was awful and lots of floating soots were drifting down....the air had cleared a little by 8ish

We went to Scarborough Beach in Narragansett yesterday, it was lovely after a bit of rain which cleared the air. The summer season is starting in earnest here in Rhode Island and it's getting busy. I just cleaned a Pineapple for our breakfast.

Just a thought ...
A long time ago, we asked ProBoards to identify Babylon as an Adult Board. We wanted to be able to discuss broadly and speak frankly with no heavy concerns about sheltering children or squabbling with fussy Evangelicals. It's worked quite well as long as we play fair. That includes not acting like children ourselves.
We've been lucky not to have a lot of "gotcha last" so let's not start it now. Surely we can disagree about politics without trying to make it personal. Don't worry about getting the last smart remark in ... be more focused on your opinions than on smacking a fellow poster. Just a suggestion to keep us from having to spend good discussion time calling out members on over-much "personal attack" which can surely cause 3 day (or more) sit outs.
Thanks for your adult consideration.

the moor fire is still blazing away but no smoke in our directions thankfully... people have been evacuated and a small town is they say under threat the smoke is causing havoc with peoples breathing as its not only very dense but filled with soots .. the army is on standby to relieve the fire fighters this is the 18th fire out break this year in the saddleworth area... the trouble is.. its thought to be out and then because its peat it can travel miles underground before breaking out into flame again .. luckily the sheep are aware and move down and the nesting season is over peeps are taking to the higher hills all around once its da4rk to see whats going on as it can be seen from quite long distances away

You should have an escape plan set up, mouse, just in case worse comes to worst.

We are forecast to have temperatures in the 90s F later today.
Having a cup and checking the news before leaving for the country to gather in the last of this years strawberries. We'll bring them back to use for goodies to celebrate the 4th, coming at mid week.
Seems very early but I slept well last night so am looking forward to the day.
