Turney has form. He hasn't learned from his ship of fools experience... 150,000 penguins have disappeared in Antarctica. Thanks, climate change!
“It’s eerily silent now,” expedition leader Chris Turney told The Sydney Morning Herald. He goes on to describe an alarmingly sedated — and depleted — community of penguins:
And this could be just the beginning. Turney warns that as the planet warms and ice continues to melt, this kind of thing could become commonplacegrist.org/science/150000-penguins-have-disappeared-in-antarctica-thanks-climate-change/So that's it, Penguins can't move, they're all doomed by man made global warming? Er, no. Scientists just discovered a secret penguin kingdom in Antarctica using drones and satellite images
A never-before-seen "supercolony" of over 1,500,000 Adélie penguins were found in the Danger Islands.
"The population of Adélies on the east side of the Antarctic Peninsula is different from what we see on the west side, for example. We want to understand why. Is it linked to the extended sea ice condition over there? Food availability? That's something we don't know,"www.sciencenewsline.com/news/2018030217470099.htmlTurney is an activist, not a scientist.

If there is activity there? then it must have been. It seems the end will soon be here according to all the signs that have come to pass. A blood red moon, an eclipse, earthquakes in diverse places, has the stars falling from the sky happened yet? ( a meteor shower) If you are seeking absolutes, then follow that which is always correct. Find some one who knows how to cast the bones and read them. That way you will know exactly what will happen and when. If that takes too long then get a sheep kill it and then read the entrails. There are lots of ways find the future you want or the future you predict. You do seem to know about those things, but I have never ever been involved in any of that kind of thing, except on one unexpected occasion when a workmate out of the blue, asked me to read the tea leaves in her cup of tea. I complied, and told her that she would receive a pair of boots from someone with the initial M. She immediately told me that her mother was going to present her that week with a pair of winter boots for her birthday. I was so surprised, because I was just going along with it for fun, yet it turned out to be true. I knew nothing of this person's background. I never ever did that again, though I have been asked questions and my answers have later come to pass. That took place when I was a teenager. It seems that I may have the gifts of Spirit that some people are given when they love God.

If global warming is being touted around, then it is important to check, so that is not funny in itself. Having to be rescued is perhaps funny, if you are in need of a laugh? of course its funny ... that you do not see the humour is not our problem just think about it phrophets of doom have been forcasting there will be no more snow and no m more ice and they set up an expedition to prove that the ice had and was indeed melting according to their theories of global warming so there you are they shouted the ice is melting but when they decided to go see how much the ice had melted..... they found instead it hadn't melted at all in fact the opposite happened and they got stuck ibn the ice which they had told the world didn't exist what joy As far as I am concerned, life IS serious, so it is important that we DO find out the true facts of every aspect of life today. I see nothing funny about that, I'm just glad that they checked. We have experts checking everything regularly, such as the state of bridges, etc, so someone was remiss in checking the bridge that crashed down lately, that should not have happened. Were terrorists involved?

Would you rather I say that to me, this guy is presenting a false front. As Fretslider stated he is not a scientist, but rather an activist to whom facts are not important. He wishes something to be true, it isn’t true, so he tries to strengthen his position by taking facts out of context and rewording them to supporting some ‘other’ position. That is dishonest and makes him fair game for being accused as one who is try to create a false position.

Such people are proven wrong time after time and yet they just go back and tell each other how right they are. Then they repeat this incorrect assertion, and they say see! Others are saying it so global warming is proven true. In their minds they assert that which is untrue, and they say that because others are repeating the untrue words, they claim that it is true just because it is repeated.

I have to say, if I were the person in charge of his university, he'd have collected his cards and gone long ago. Turney really has become a laughing stock in scientific circles. And now - through his blind belief in MMGW - he just goes on and on making a complete fool of himself. According to new research co-authored by the University of NSW’s Climate Change Research Centre and published in the journal Antarctic Science, the colony could be wiped out within 20 years unless the sea ice breaks up or the iceberg, with an area of about 2900 square kilometres, moves.
Adélie penguins usually return to the colony where they hatched and try to return to the same mate and nest. Professor Turney said the Cape Denison penguins could face a grim future. “They don’t migrate,” he said. “They’re stuck there. They’re dying.“wattsupwiththat.com/2016/02/13/chris-turney-penguins-dont-migrate-theyre-dying/Stuck? Dying? Turney can only be Professor of ignorance... The distance to which they move varies according to the migration reason, the environmental conditions, and the species. The Adélie penguins of the Ross Sea travel about 13,000-17,600 kilometers annually to their breeding colonies, while some Magellanic penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus) can move about 4,828 kilometers. www.antarctica.gov.au/about-antarctica/wildlife/animals/penguins/adelie-penguinsEven dodgy Wikipedia doesn't make such ludicrous claims... Adélie penguins living in the Ross Sea region in Antarctica migrate an average of about 13,000 kilometres (8,100 mi) during the year as they follow the sun from their breeding colonies to winter foraging grounds and back again.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad%C3%A9lie_penguin#MigrationI have no doubt a natural catastrophe like the Cape Denison Iceberg can have a severe local impact, and I’m not surprised that a lot of birds have died, given the abrupt onset of the disaster. But suggesting penguins “don’t migrate” is ridiculous; if that was the case, there would only be one colony in the whole world, or more likely, there wouldn’t be any penguins at all.wattsupwiththat.com/2016/02/13/chris-turney-penguins-dont-migrate-theyre-dying/I understand the ship of fools expedition cost Au $3,000,000 That doesn't include the costs of severely disrupting the (real) science missions going on in Antarctica because resupply ships ended up being diverted to save his pleasure cruise. I can't believe he still gets published!

A past American senator has been touring different countries trying to convince the Authorities that Global warming is inevitable, so in order to find out if that is so, they decided to check. This is responsible behaviour on their part, so did not warrant a belly laugh, in my opinion. I am glad that we have people caring enough to check, they should be lauded for their prompt action.

I can't believe he still gets published! He is evidently a concerned citizen. I think there was a story on tv that the buildings that the Scientists had erected as living quarters and storage was in danger of sliding into the sea, due to the ice breaking up owing to Global warming, so they were getting ready to dismantle them and erect them somewhere else, so apparently warming was taking place. Perhaps this fact was the reason for them going there in the first place. Something must have changed unexpectedly, trapping their ship, which could have been crushed by the ice. Nothing to be laughed at, for sure.!!!

The story was on tv, I remember it now, so it wasn't a fool's expedition, but a mission of mercy. Why conditions changed is anyone's guess. Still nothing to laugh at, as their ship was in danger of being crushed.
