A MAN has been arrested after claiming to be a time traveller from 2048 sent back to warn people about a 2018 alien invasion. Officers in Casper, Wyoming, said the Bryant Johnson, from central Wyoming, in the US, was arrested for public intoxication. Casper police said the man they encountered at 10.30pm on Monday claimed he was from the year 2048. The suspect told police he wanted to warn the people of Casper that aliens will arrive next year, and that they should leave as soon as possible. He asked to speak to the "president" of the town, about 170 miles (270 kilometres) northwest of Cheyenne. According to police, the man told them he was only able to time travel because aliens filled his body with alcohol. He said that the plan had gone wrong and he was supposed to be transported back to 2018, not 2017. Police said he smelt of alcohol, and spoke with slightly slurred speech, but he said to them: “The aliens were coming next year and we needed to make sure to leave as fast as possible.” Officers did not believe the man's claims and arrested him as a drunk. www.express.co.uk/news/weird/863223/time-traveller-2048-aliens-invasion-ufo-2018Makes a change from seeing god I suppose.

Time travel is such a fantastic concept. If it's ever achieved, people will be more than ready to embrace it.

I remember Titor. I didn't believe him, mostly because he didn't allow enough years between events. He was interesting, though. Time travel is such a fantastic concept. If it's ever achieved, people will be more than ready to embrace it. Ah, but what about causality? What if someone went back, did something trivial yet removed you from history? From the timeline, if you like? Time travel is one thing, but interfering in history even unintentionally is another and could have huge ramifications.

I read a book on that ages ago... time travel had become possible and this travelor saved a baby dinosaur from being eaten and in doing so prevented an entire ethnic group from existing which inturn meant certain families were not born and one member of which was the inventor of time travel

I think most people enjoyed following it and looking for the loopholes that would trip him up as much as secretly hoping he was legitimate. It's also inspired some great fiction. Don't knock it til you've tried it .

Here's another one.
'Call me Ishmael.'
This has actually been claimed to be subliminal propaganda on behalf of the Ismaili branch of Islam!

If you believe in time as linear and like an arrow flowing from past through present to future it's a problem. But that's not how time actually IS; just how we experience it. History is pretty much what the historians on the winning side decide it is.

last night I dreamed I returned to Manderley Almost ‘Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again. ah thanks Jessie.. I knew I hadn't remembered it properly
beth wrote""How do famous first lines in literature relate to daft beliefs?"" it was the word.. dreamt.. as it had been put forward on another thread that dreams are real and actual happenings and should be recognised as such ...
so if its some ones beliefe then.. imo it fits into daft beliefes
