Perhaps you should try reading up on the EU, trying to paint it as similar to the US is laughable. The US is a Federal set-up for a start. Do you know how many presidents we have? The answer is.... Seven. I have read plenty. I also happen to be a citizen through my mother. Confederations are needed in this complex world. Britain hasn't been able to stand on its own for quite a while. Without economic and military confederation and alliance, Britain is toast. you have dual citizenship[ ?and a right to vote?? We will manage to struggle through through and still be able to afford marmalade on our toast is the world any more complex than it was..or do we just know more about the problems ? and we will never know if we can stand on our own two feet..and if we cannot well tough that is our problem weve managed before and we will manage again the EU is not a confederation its aim is to be ONE state..with one law..one army.. one court system.. one flag ...all UNDER ONE RULEING BODY....that is not confederation and we have stood on our own two feet as much as any other country..no body has bailed us out we have had no handouts ..though like every other country we have got our selves into debt who willingly ties them selves to a dictatorship..a facist one at that ??

A. You had lots of handouts. Besides plundering an untold number of other nations, you also benefitted from American assistance, especially in WWII and afterwards, with the Marshall Plan. Show a little gratitude!
Yes, I have dual-citizenship. I only vote in the U.S., as this is where I live.

Have you been to Harvard, Columbia, MIT? The world's finest. Perhaps it is, do they do courses on modesty.

A lot of the public schools here are as good as private schools. The Universities turn out the best and brightest and liberal arts colleges are about as good. The people here that come across as brain dead are the ones that are too lazy to think and let the media think for them. The working brain needs exercise.

Hi Dex, similar to here really, good schools and bad schools and the same with some Unis. Our problem has been that every child could go to Uni of late, many took made up meaning less qualifications, many went to escape work. There are some hard working gifted Uni students over here, but there are some that should not have got a place in Uni.

The democratic deficit of the EU is truly staggering. We can stand on our own. You've been listening to the likes of Obama a little too much.

The UK pays more into the EU budget than it gets back.
In 2015 the UK government paid £13 billion to the EU budget, and EU spending on the UK was £4.5 billion. So the UK’s ‘net contribution’ was estimated at about £8.5 billion.fullfact.org/europe/our-eu-membership-fee-55-million/On what planet is a net payment in of £8.5 billion a handout??? As for American assistance, it had to be paid back. Do you have a mortgage, sorry, a handout? Exactly how is a repaid loan a handout???

Your logic is rather flawed. Britain has never been able to stand on its own - which is why ( combined with greed) she has plundered nations worldwide for centuries.Only a nation that can stand on its own can conquer and pillage for centuries. Which compared to Iraq and Afghanistan shows we could do it and you can't

You will find that out the hard way. The U.S. provided so much to Britain with dirt- cheap loans and constant deferments. Then she misused the Marshall Plan money on God-knows what.

Do you ever check any facts?

Please do a bit of research re "we get more out of the EU than we put in", and please look at how long it took Britain to pay back the loans from the good old US for WW2.....we paid it back. I would appreciate you not slating my country with myths which is all you seem to have done since you started posting. As we say in England, "Have you got a bee in your bonnet".

I don't do bees.
The U.S. Only got involved in the European theatre to save Britain (and FDR had to pull a fast one on the American people to do that.)
See, the great thing about America is that we have no problem with re- invention. That's a big key to our might. Britain seems to dwell in it's past, and it's a mistake.
You are no longer the #5 power in the world. Do you want to guess who is? It's California.

Great news, something else for you to brag about, meanwhile we are on the way to governing ourselves again...5th power, 10th power...you can have it, if power is your god.
