What frightens you most? How do you react to fear? What calms your fears? Have you ever suffered a panic attack? Phobias? According to surveys, women are must afraid of snakes and men are most afraid of being buried alive. This seems extremely Fraudian to me and makes me wonder whether this information is authentic.

I doubt if that's right. Here's what I think. Everything we are afraid of is related to the fear of death. If we didn't fear death then most of these other fears would disappear.

I think that people frighten me the most. That includes young males shouting offensive remarks, and slightly older females I find attractive but dare not say anything to because I am not of their age.
For a man, showing any kind of positive emotion or likeness to women is to be feared because it either marks you as homosexual, or finding women attractive. Women regard the second as offensive.

I'm not scared of anything on that Graph. Some I'm a bit wary of, but not scared - and I wouldn't avoid anything there because of the wariness.
Needles: I have a healthy respect for needles, but not fear. I get two big needles shoved in my forearm three times a week; and while I'm not exactly used to it, I don't think about it for an hour beforehand, like I used to. I could not do the needling myself, though, as some people do.
The spiders and snakes fear is totally irrational, isn't it? I should imagine the chances of being killed by either is somewhat less than winning the lottery, even in the US (here in England you'd win 5 lotteries before getting killed by a snake).
The things that you have most chance of being killed or even hurt by never seem to feature in lists like this.

I think if one is in a high-crime zone, being murdered would be a very realistic fear. I don't understand the list either unless it was a "choose from these" sort of question. I don't like high places and really hate being closed in, but am not sure it translates to fear. With the heights .. the real fear is of falling, or being pushed or jumping. I saw a movie as a child that added to that - might even have caused it. Also, the Dean Koontz book, From the Corner of His Eye has a bad scene in which a woman's bridegroom pushed her off a fire ranger tower. (shiver). Still bothers me to think about it.

Hmmmmm......well roaches (but I like spiders and tolerate most other bugs)......and being buried......already have threatened my entire family and all my friends that they better cremate me.......or I will come back and haunt everyone involved. Don't care what they do with my ashes.......but I'm not claustrophobic........other than that......nothing on that list.

Does anybody not do something from being afraid? I don't like to fly in a helicopter but part of my job is topography and mapping so I do it every couple months. No panic attacks, but I'm glad when it's over.
