Guidelines
The fewer the better, but some are probably a good idea.
First and foremost, please read ProBoards Terms of Service (see above). Those are the RULES. Beyond that, here are a few Guidelines and Suggestions.
No personal attacks. If you do not agree with the content of a post, challenge the issues, not the person. If you do it first, you cancel out being able to complain about the other person doing it .. in kind.
No harassment via PMs. Report any harassment you receive by private message. You have the option of closing PMs to anyone who persists in this.
Multiple accounts and multiple identities. The rule is that all our members create and post under one username/account. If we determine that a member is posting under multiple identities, particularly in a manner which is deemed to be disruptive to the board, we reserve the right to ban the person permanently and delete all accounts involved.
Lively discussion is welcome - flame wars are not. If you're a text communication vet, you know the difference. If you do not know the difference, ask around. It won't be hard to find someone to tell you. If you STILL do not understand, PM Beth, Fret or Dex. If you consistantly create discussion-chaos, it will be seen as an attempt to undermine this site.
Do not bring disputes with posters that started on other boards into Gates of Babylon. This is important and we take it seriously. If you do have ongoing spats and feuds that started elsewhere - leave them at the door. Ignoring this will cause you a world of grief. Just say no.
Likewise, it is not our policy to allow posts on other Proboards Discussion Sites to be copied for comment, here. You're welcome to paraphrase but not c&p.
No links or addresses for other PB Sites should be added to message content or Sig lines without expressed permission of Admins. Affiliates have their own topic here.
Negative comments and criticism in regard to creative arts input are out of place unless the thread (or an individual post) invites critique. Even then, the critique should be knowledgeable, helpful and tactful.
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to delete or modify forum posts, revoke membership to the forum, block access to the forum, or modify any User Content.
(Added, August, 2016) A few off-topic posts here and there are fine. However, this can quickly become extreme and destroy threads. If you are asked to return to topic, or if your off topic posts are in any way offensive (our call), they may be deleted or moved with no warning. This is an effort to keep the boards running smoothly and encourage more people to post.
Finally, we also reserve the right to dismiss any member for reasons we consider harmful to this site, without warning and without explanation.
We want our members to have fun, enjoy themselves, add some pithy, noteworthy content they can be proud of, some frivolous fluff that will give others a smile or a rant that will free them of painful tension and anxiety.
Best regards and eternally optimistic wishes,
Beth and Fret

Some of these guidelines were necessary years ago but don't come up much anymore. Hi Beth, nice of you to post me. Certain guidelines may not be used of late, nevertheless, I am always ready to go along with what is required, so I will never be one to rock the boat. I respect authority. All the best for 2015. Happy New Year.

This is not a "guideline" but a major, important rule.
Please keep religious discussion, preaching, comments in the generous number of religion threads provided.
Non-compliance to this rule will be reason for loss of account.
Thank you for respecting this condition.
Beth and Fret

This is an ad free site. Ads are not allowed in members' signature lines.
This is common sense, but now and then we need to add a reminder.
