VENUS, Texas — One deputy was killed and a second was wounded Saturday by a gunman hiding in a shed, the Johnson County, Texas, sheriff said Saturday.
The gunman was killed by deputies, Sheriff Bob Alford said in a news release. The Sheriff's office identified the slain deputy as three-year veteran Clifton Taylor, reported NBC TV station KXAS. Authorities released few details about the Saturday afternoon shootout near Venus, a town of less than 2,000 people about 30 miles south of Dallas-Fort Worth. The sheriff's office said officers were responding to an anonymous call about a disturbance involving weapons in the 2200 block of Eagle Court at around 3 p.m., KXAS said. Three deputies responded, when they arrived they went to a shed on the property. The sheriff's office said that's when a man inside the shed opened fire, killing one deputy and injuring another. Alford said no further information would be released as the investigation continues. No other names were immediately released pending notification of next of kin.

Well....I know how hard it is for the officers to have to have the killer of fellow officers in their jail. The shooting here that happened in 2007. The guy killed three officers and he still sits in the jail here......hasn't gone to trial. He has cancer and his attorney has been fighting to postpone all hearings saying he is too ill to deal with it.......so for all this time....the officers have to take him to doctors visits, to chemotherapy and look at him every day. It's very difficult on them. I wish they could at least move him to another county or something.

One of the officers that died had five kids. His wife died six months later. It was terrible. She had not really been sick....it was something really sudden. I don't remember exactly what anymore.
It was of course a domestic disturbance. The guy regularly beat his wife. She got out of the house before the officers went running up to it....he picked them all off as they were getting out of their cars and going up to the house. Then they had a standoff that went on for hours. They had to bring in a tank to recover the officers bodies. I can't tell you what it did to all of them to have to look at them and wait to get to them. They wanted to storm the house but the wife wouldn't tell them if anyone else was in the house........so they couldn't. I see her around town all the time........I just want to slap her.
