I have one[flu jab] every October along with most of the elderly.....
Italians over the age of 80 will be denied intensive care as the healthcare system groans under thousands of coronavirus cases. With 27,980 confirmed cases in the country, hospitals don't have enough ventilators to treat every patient. Total deaths have reached 2,158 with 349 in the last 24 hours. as for your dismisal of the item on Pharma,s… .. its so much rubbish that there is a great effort to find a workable jab.. notice you didn't mention trump wanting sole use of any jab a particular team are working on offering loadsa money...….and why every one hopes its any one but the Americans who come up trumps[as it were] ..

This is crap, of course. Big pharma, and only big pharma, accounts for the high quality of life in the industrialized world. It can't, however, be relied-upon to develop VACCINES against viruses, because none of the ones developed so far actually work. They never will, because viruses mutate faster than vaccines can be developed. high quality of life.. your having a laugh Joseph... not every one in the industrialised world has a high quality of life some and that includes many Americans have a very far from high quality life.. and not every one is able to access the pharma products and their inflated prices...and those who cannot afford are left high and dry.. why do you think there is such a rush to develop a jab against this virus.. apart from the the necessity and kudos.. no one wants America to be first with any thing because of the pharma greed that goes along with it..its not just us.. its the French and Germans.. Italians and Spanish some times.. the common good has to be put above profit....and you need to learn that..

Covid-19: Say Hello To Austerity On Steroids Boris has outlined the latest measures to deal with the epidemic... Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged Britons to avoid pubs, clubs and theatres and stop non-essential travel. All people should avoid gatherings and crowded places, while people who are vulnerable - including those who are elderly - will need to undertake even more drastic measures.
Anyone living in a household with somebody who has either a persistent cough or fever must now also isolate themselves for 14 days.www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/coronavirus-news-uk-latest-update-covid-19-death-toll-cases/It occurred to me when I posted the thread on when [XR] is no longer the news. WE had decades of climate alarmism which in the end counted for very little in the way of changing human behaviour; ie enjoying the fruits of human progress, this virus - and the methods being used to counter it - has achieved the desired result in weeks, if not months. UK airlines call for multibillion bailout to survive Covid-19 crisis Sector expected to ask Boris Johnson for immediate aid of up to £7.5bn to prevent wipeoutwww.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/15/uk-airlines-call-for-multibillion-bailout-to-survive-covid-19-crisisFlights are few and far between these days. What does the lockdown mean for the average family? I can relate that of my own. The Amazon of the house works at Kings College London, exams, courses, everything up in the air, students have paid... My eldest son is in the theatrical game, acting and all that and that's been shut down. He has an income, but everything's a bit shaky. My youngest son is in the music business and that's effectively been shut down. Where is the Exit strategy? The stockmarkets have taken a pounding. Sooner rather than later that will have an impact on pension funds. Nobody but the very wealthy is going to weather this one well. Where is the Exit strategyNobody seems to know how and when lockdown will be lifted Professor Mark Woolhouse of Edinburgh University agreed. “It is now very difficult for those countries that have gone into total lockdown to know under what circumstances they can come out of it. And, to the best of my knowledge, none of those countries has a clear plan – an exit strategy – through which they can relax their measures.”www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/15/boris-johnson-coronavirus-outbreak-how-strategy-shiftedAnd when governments have achieved that level of social control, will they want to give it up?

It can't, however, be relied-upon to develop VACCINES against viruses, because none of the ones developed so far actually work. Take the necessary facilities - containment level laboratories - for any work to take place, lets just say they're phenominally expensive.... www.building.co.uk/data/cost-model-laboratories/3106798.articleScientific staff aren't cheap, either. Universities have access to big funds and can share some of the load. But for a private concern it's often make or break. Some drugs can take up to 10 years to develop and then test. It can prove to be money lost. It's a huge gamble... Clinical trials are the key to getting that data - and without volunteers to take part in the trials, there would be no new treatments for serious diseases such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and arthritis.
But one disastrous drug trial at a London hospital in 2006 threatened to derail that system.
In what became known as the Elephant Man trial, six healthy young men were treated for organ failure after experiencing a serious reaction within hours of taking the drug TGN1412 in a clinical trial.www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-22556736AI offers hope in its ability with pattern recognition - it's all about molecule shapes - but even then clinical trials will require at least 18 months. You simply can't have a vaccine yesterday
