cold night.. now all over grey..daughter doing the final list for shopping...including a few things food wise for us just incase we don't get to Wales[so we don't starve]and a few bits an bobs for taking with us...there are no handy little shops where son 1 is... just one small not very good shop at a petrol station a few of miles away.. so there is no bobbing out to replace any thing one runs out of... if you haven't got it... then you do without

Sunny and cold. The forecast says a warming trend will start tomorrow and continue through next week. Would be nice. I don't dream of a White Christmas.
Have a great day and enjoy the rest of your week.

brighter this morning....after a very noisey windy spell during the night.... we are not doing our open house this year.. thought we would have a break and just 4 of our closest friends around on Saturday for a light afternoon tea instead......several people have asked about our open house and said they will miss it.... so perhaps next year....

I am always happy to see the longest day come and go. Always glad to have the extended daylight.
We are looking forward to Xmas and also the New Year. My wish for the New Year is that politics will not over-shadow everything else.
Have a lovely weekend. Keep warm.

ah politics... I think we too will be happy not to hear about leavers/remainers/Brexit/eu…… and just have a break from it all for a while... yet it will be there in the background during transition year.. while there are still those determined that we will not leave the eu….even after a legal vote with a lawful outcome …….. it was really bitter overnight but much brighter now with some sun at times ...friends coming round later just for mince pies and light bites....before we all go our separate ways to celebrate Christmas....

It's cold here but sunny, with a forecast of higher temps as the day goes on.
How is it possible for kids in the lower grades of school can still believe in Santa, complete with the flying sleigh and visits in the dead of night to leave their gifts!
I have a friend whose daughter, age 8, still believed until this past week when her teenage sitter spilled the beans. She cried and cried ... mostly angry with her parents for letting her "believe" so long. She's getting over it but says Xmas will never be the same.

Thank you Annie. I enjoyed the advertisement. We ;do not have Solstice festivals here, but I am glad to see the shortest day come and go. We are listening to an audio book and having popcorn and egg nog this evening. Cold outside but just right in here.

wet cold with over two hundred flood alerts...but not thank goodness for us... the streams are full and rushing downward.... but luckily every where here is draining nicly we had a lovely afternoon yesterday....I think better than an open house.. as we got time to sit and talk and laugh with them in a way you cannot with a larger gathering.....grandson arrived back and is here till 2-3 of January which is good .. I love having him around

Our kids visited Grandparents this weekend. Friends dropped by today and brought a basket of banana bread, cranberry loaf, Xmas cookies, egg nog and spirits. We sat around and talked and played a board game that was always a Xmas pursuit of the past. Very nice day.
Hope all here are making the most of yuletide.

a horrible wet dark day..... we are doing nothing to day other than pack... any one would think we were going for a month rather than a few days ...have to say I am looking forward ..I much prefer this house in Wales to where they were ...and the journey there too is much pleasanter ... apart from seeing what changes son has wrought.. he has installed a new pump for the pond and paved a sitting area on a spot that is always sunny and of course catching up with gentle Mischa and Idriss the terrible … plus another dog Scout who is as black as the other two are white will be there with his human.. 10 of us I think plus the three dogs[so it certainly will not be dull I hope every one has a super Christmas and a very peaceful one too

In spite of your weather, that all sounds very nice, mouse. Family and pets can make for the berst holidays. Daughter is spending the night with grandparents and cousins tonight .. then Xmas eve back home and relatives expected Xmas day for dinner and gift exchange. I have to work 4 hours on Xmas night but doubt I'll be missed by then.
I'm baking our 4 layer holiday cake today. Working full shift tonight.
Have a happy, all of you.
