When students don't do their research and schoolkids don't do their homework...
About 200 activists from the Reclaim the Power group thought they were targeting the headquarters of Drax. But the energy group had moved offices more than a year ago.
The activists had instead chained themselves to a building in Moorgate that was now used by leading renewable generator, Statkraft.
Protesters dressed in white boiler suits unfurled a banner reading: “No borders, no nations, no gas power stations.”
Drax, which plans to build a gas power plant in north Yorkshire, has moved its London headquarters to Noble Street, 800 metres away.
An unnamed Statkraft employee said: “They’re protesting against Drax but they don’t live here any more. I understand [their aims] but it helps if they check the facts.”

Paul McCartney's right-on daughter, Stella McCartney (Her mother was a loon too)
They are the eco-warriors plucked from Extinction Rebellion’s street protests to be models for Stella McCartney’s new environmentally aware fashion campaign.
But The Mail on Sunday can reveal that the climate change activists picked to parade in her clothes have clocked up more than 135,000 air miles between them in recent years.
Ruby Munslow, Deya Ward and Tori Tsui – dubbed ‘change agents’ by the 47-year-old designer – have jetted all over the world to countries including the US and Borneo.
The revelation comes just weeks after the activist group brought major cities across the UK to a standstill to highlight the threat posed by climate change.
The protesters were chosen by Ms McCartney to front her winter collection, which uses environmentally sound, sustainable fabrics, and were pictured in the designer’s creations in a shoot on the Welsh coast.
Unveiling her campaign last week, Sir Paul McCartney’s daughter said: ‘In an era of climate crisis, action is more important than ever.’
She hailed her ‘change agents’ including Ms Munslow, 23, a self-proclaimed ‘avid recycler and misogynist repeller’ from East London, who joined the protests in April which shut down Central London.
Extinction Rebellion has warned of the ‘massive carbon footprint’ of air travel, and asked: ‘What if we started changing our travel habits to reduce our impact on the planet?’
But it seems Ms McCartney’s models don’t always practise what the group preaches.
Last month, Ms Munslow jetted off with friends to Valencia in Spain. She has also travelled to Cambodia, Barcelona, Switzerland and Ibiza since May last year, clocking up 18,000 air miles.

Asked about her extensive air travel last night, Ms Munslow said: ‘This is a topic which has been hard for me to come to terms with. I have had to make the extremely tough decision on not having children. I will also have to cut drastically my flights.’
Ms Tsui, from Bristol, has racked up 68,000 miles in the past two years, including long-haul flights to California, Nepal, South Africa and Antarctica via Argentina.
The filmmaker, who will travel to Iceland for work next week, accompanies photos from her travels with messages like: ‘Climate change is scary.’ She said: ‘Flying has always been my downfall. I am from Hong Kong and my job has relied on overseas work.
‘I offset my flights when I can but, as I am now in a better position to manage where I work, I have decided I am going to try to be flight-free in 2020.’
Ms Ward, an orang-utan expert who divides her time between Bristol and Borneo, has flown more than 50,000 air miles, including two trips to California, as well as Borneo and Indonesia since last year. She said: ‘For some of my previous work in Borneo I had to fly. But I was there for sustained periods, working for free and putting my time and effort into conservation.’
Sarah Clayton, of environmental campaign group AirportWatch, said: ‘People who have to fly for their jobs don’t even think about the impact. They say, “I’ve done my recycling, turned down my heating and signed up to some campaigns online.” Then they fly off to Barcelona for a weekend.’
A spokesman for Ms McCartney declined to comment last night.

It would appear that Emma Thompson's exhortations have done the trick
eco-luvvie Emma Thompson sat in one of the 14 seats (2F) in the first class cabin, flying back on Friday night from London after telling us ‘We should all fly less’ and being the star appearance at the Extinction Rebellion protest against man-made climate change. A British Airways First Class Flexi-Ticket will set you back £18,000 and make you responsible for emitting 4 tonnes of carbon-dioxide…
