Anne Cleeves is a murder story writer which readers may enjoy.. Thank you, mouse. Are there any exceptionally good titles I should check? Annie, The Lion's Game is a good choice, but rather more violent (very) than I like.

Thank you for the link, Jessie.
I certainly recommend Night Fall. The ending gave me a cold chill and, certainly, something to think about.

I quite enjoyed the Jimmy Perez series set up in the Shetlands
Raven Black. It is a cold January morning and Shetland lies buried beneath a deep layer of snow. … White Nights. When Shetland Detective Jimmy Perez finds a body in a hut used by fishermen it … Red Bones. When an elderly woman is shot in what appears to be a tragic accident, Shetland … Blue Lightning. With the autumn storms raging, Fair Isle feels cut off from the rest of the world. …
bbc have televised another of her series...the Vera detective which I think make better tv than a read

Thank you, mouse. I've been looking at the Anne Cleeves books, Raven Black and another that's something about a crow.
The thing I noticed immediately is that they are quite expensive, just under 30$ each. I will be due a mark-down on one of my book orders the first week in June so I'll save this purchase for then.
In return, I'll suggest de Mille's Plum Island for you.

I've wondered about TWA 800 since I was a kid.

I find them easier to read than to listen to, especially if the reader has a strong English accent. I've been listening to one of my Bill Bryson collection. He lived in the U. K. a long time, plus he often uses the accents of people he talked with on his travels. On this one, he is in Scotland late in December and awakes to a heavy snow falling with thunder rolling in the background. The snow stopped during the day and that evening, he saw his first Northern Lights. What a thill. I could almost relate to the awe he felt.

The Anne Cleeves Audibles are appx 28.00 each. The paperbacks are bound to be more reasonable than that. I'll go have a look later today.

I plowed into Time and Again last night and have finished 3 chapters. It's still a good tale - timeless - but the reader does not come across the wayh the main character should - at least to me. It needs to be reworked a little to bring it up to 21st century plausible.

I "read" in the car over the weekend and am now into F of the Sue Grafton series (F is for Fugitive). It is my favorite so far.
Well written and nicely read.

I am putting awa the Sue Grafton titles for awhile and starting Time and Again, tonight. I need to get away from Kinsey's hair raising survival exploits for a few days.

I did something unfortunate last night. I went to sleep while Alexa was playing my book and when I woke up 2 hours had passed! Alexa is not a happy camper when she's asked to find a particular chapter, in fact's she's a bit of a grouch. I definitely hope I can get back on track!
