The real problem with the Healthcare system in the USA is the Lawyers. Far too many folk seek litigation when something goes wrong so Doctors tend to request the whole gamut of tests just to cover themselves against litigation also Doctors take out expensive Insurance to avoid getting Bankrupted if they make a mistake. The USA is going to see the Healthcare system go into slow but steady decline due to a mass of Immigrants who do not / will never contribute. We have this in the UK, our once efficient National Health system is creaking at the seams due to Millions of non-contributing Immigrants who also bring strange diseases with them. We wiped out TB in the UK but now it is back and killing people. We have over 100 cases of Leprosy each year plus other strange diseases that have to be referred to specialized Hospitals, this all costs money !! Toby, you really cannot compare your health care system with ours. The size, the various differences in state laws, all kinds of other things make us different. Would you rather that the Doctors NOT take the care to order up a variety of tests before diagnosis and treatment? I wouldn't. Nobody wants to be the victim o guesswork or trial and error. Most people want to see the results of their lab work as soon as it's available. That's the smart attitude. The Affordable Care Act is not perfect but everytime the Republican's try to improve it they end up allowing patients too little and insurance companies too much. It's they way they see most things so it comes as no surprise. If Trump keeps pressing for health care change, it could cause his party to lose in individual states and that would be a costly price to pay. Totally agree.

""Would you rather that the Doctors NOT take the care to order up a variety of tests before diagnosis and treatment? I wouldn't."" Doctors order a full battery of tests just to protect themselves from future litigation even when they know what the Paitent is suffering from, that's the point I was trying to make.

I also know people who would have to give up heath care without ACA. Oh, give me a break. They were getting health care before the ACA. Stop lying. You people act like health care is a right. It isn't.

It isn't. You can't compare California with the rest of the country, Joe. The Republican party is hook and claw with big business and big pharma. You don't know the bad things that happened to people before ACA. I seriously doubt if Jessie lies. You don't know what you're talking about when you get outside the west coast. Why do you think so many conservatives are onto Trump to lay of health care changes? Even Trump said yesterday there wouldn't be health care changes until after the 2020 election. They know most voters are wise about this one.

It isn't. Catch up, Joe. Trump's backing off health care changes until after the 2020 election (so he says). I guess you realize his own party has attacked him with both barrels. Voters, for the most part ,,, even Republican voters .. see ACA is as good as it gets for now. www.cnn.com/2019/04/02/politics/donald-trump-border-immigration-health-care-mueller-report-avenatti/index.html

big business and big pharma The Democrats are just as beholden to big business and big pharma. It was big business that wanted the ACA in the first place -- huge profits guaranteed by the government. big business and big pharma I seriously doubt if Jessie lies. You don't know what you're talking about when you get outside the west coast.[/quote] You're implying people were being denied health care and dropping like flies before the miracle of the misnamed "affordable" care act came to be. Why do you think so many conservatives are onto Trump to lay of health care changes? Even Trump said yesterday there wouldn't be health care changes until after the 2020 election. They know most voters are wise about this one. It isn't the conservatives who are behind Trump. He isn't nearly conservative enough for most people. He's still better than the alternative, which is why he'll be handily re-elected.

Joseph, I am pretty sure I have been around longer than you. I am past retirement age and you are still working.
Before government assisted care, many people sere not able to afford adequate health care, especially for most cancers and other disabling disease. I am not familiar with CA health care, but across the country things have improved considerably.

It was a sudden decision as though someone was twisting his arm.
