Beware the spiders of summer. They especially like a nice bit of skin they can bite into. I've been bitten twice by brown recluse, once a few years ago and again this year .. back in June. Luckily, they both healed, although this year it took longer it left a little scar.

I wish I had the time to read and see all the stuff people recommend, I guess there are only so many hours in a day though! Hi Kronks, I have bought 2 books from a bookshop in town, that were recommended but haven't had the time to read them yet, hopefully I will, before too long if I can remember where I put them. LOL LOL Lassie I am sure you will find them one day, that made me smile! What you should do is imaging your a book and think where you would put it, doing something like that sometimes works for me but not always.

Hi Fretslider, my daughter had a look at the spider when she came to visit me and told me that she found two in the kitchen sink in my unit, how about that? Maybe they hid your books in there!

I keep forgetting to mention the baby owls have left the nest...it is bittersweet but the joy is we have three more barn owls to keep the rodent population down in Ferndale.

Hi Krronks, I have 2 large bookcases full of a variety of books, but these ones are still in the bag they came in amidst the rest of the clutter, so who knows where it might turn up. Usually I find things when I'm looking for something else, and then ofcourse I forget again. If it was not for having a family, I would wish I was sweet Seventeen again. The world to me, seemed so innocent and lovely then.

Hi Kronks, One never knows, does one, you funny man.!!! This world is full of wonders that I'm interested to find the answer to, though it might not happen in this lifetime, perhaps the next. LOL.

Are you sure they are in the house, maybe you left them on the bus or something like like that, leaving stuff on buses and trains is a pretty common thing, they usually have a lost property department where they keep stuff that was handed in so it might be worth giving them a ring, I think you said you left something at the bus stop once too, that may well have been handed in. So that is another idea, might be worth while making sure you name and address in any bags you have in case they get lost???

Yes they like cupboards and shelves etc Hi Fretslider, They usually hang around cupboards but must come down to the kitchen sink in order to get a drink. I usually get a small container and catch them in it and then put them down in bushes at the bottom of the garden. I didn't ask my daughter what she did, but it is possible that she killed them.

Hi Kronks, I have lost quite a few things like that, but the books I would have tied to my handbag, so they are at home.

It's been hot and humid all day with a rain shower here and there. Supposed to be hot and sunny tomorrow. Just the usual for July until things start moving downhill to dog days. Many writers have written so eloquently about deep summer in the U.S. American south ... John Grisham, Pat Conroy, Tennessee Williams, Thomas Wolfe, Paul Simon ... Bobby Gentry, Dolly Parton ..
We aren't deep south, here, and are spared the sultry heat of Alabama, Georgia, etc .. If I had to live further south, I'd choose the coast where wind and rains are more frequent and offer a little relief. I'd rather read about those summers ... sing about them .. than suffer through them.
My brother and family just got back from 2 weeks at the beach in Florida. I could have gone, but the thought of driving down through Georgia and Alabama, from morning to evening .. hoping nothing demands more than a half hour stop on the way ... keeps me back here in more temperate climate with the shade and ACs of home base.
Reports of 125 F in Las Vegas the other day were shocking. But, that's dry heat .. bad but not unbearable. The people who live through it and moan about it have, more than likely, never suffered through the draining humidity of the swamps and bayous of Mississippi and Louisiana. It's enticing, but once done, re-doing is for martyrs ... I see no reason to go back. >>>
