I'm having "sock" coffee.
I bought coffee and creamer but forgot filters so took a clean thin footie to use as filter..any port in the storm.
It tastes good

It tastes good Do you remember when people would purchase whole coffee beans, grind them either at the store or take them home and grind them, place them in a cheese cloth bag and then drop it in a boiling pot of water and make coffee. No filters (other than the cheese cloth bag). Now that was coffee that would curl the hair on your back. Ladies excluded of course.

I hope you have a great week, Dex. I know your family will enjoy having you all to themselves for a change.
Men an tol and Chef, Kroger always sold freshly ground coffee when I was younger. It was one of their specialties. At certain times of the day, their store smelled wonderful.

As I remember the grinder sat right among ‘bags’ of whole coffee beans and it was a sort of a silver grinder with a red top door to open where the beans were pour into it. And your right about the aroma it always great to get there and go to where they ground the coffee. Of course, that is no more (unless you have a hand grinder at home). The same with boiling coffee which I don’t believe is done by many people except in a camp after you get through riding the horse all day. The smell of boiling coffee is like being in that store. And so is the practice getting coffee grounds in that cheese cloth bag for boiling and just before you drop that bag into the boiling water you crack open an egg and drop that into the water including the shell.
Then of course was the time of just sitting, and talking, until the coffee was ready. People lived a little slower.

Winco has a coffee grinder and sells many varieties of coffee beans...it smells so good in that area of the store.
