It’s that time of year when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame chooses the artist and industry figures it thinks have made enough of an impression through the years to induct and bestow the prestigious honor upon, and this year was no exception.
Usually, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees are musicians, songwriters, performers, and influential figures that have contributed to the music industry over many years, decades in most cases!
In a ceremony held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City on Monday, eight people were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What is so great about this honor is that not only are the inductees honored for their work, but they are inducted by fellow musicians that have already been inducted.
Folk singer and songwriter Tom Waits was inducted by legendary singer Neil Young, Dr. John was presented his honor by John Legend, Neil Diamond was finally inducted by Paul Simon, Bette Midler bestowed the honor upon soul singer Darlene Love, and metal man Alice Cooper was presented by fellow rocker Rob Zombie. As a sideman, Elton John presented Leon Russell, and Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman and Specialty Records founder Art Rupe were inducted as non-performers.
The ceremony was filled with great performances by the inductees and their presenters, and it is always a great night for music as we are reminded of the musicians and industry figures who have paved the way for the musicians of today.
If you want to check out all the festivities, the ceremony and performances will air Sunday night at 9pm EST on Fuse!
