Who,or what, has influenced you most in your lifetime, so far?
Positive or negative, who helped shape your life.
I'll be back later to share a few of mine.

I'll toss out a few.
My parents, of course. Other family members who were major parts of my younger life.
My mother who taught me not to be intimidated by bullies and to always take pride in myself and what I could do well.
Who taught me to develop the social part of life and be true blue to good friends
My father who put the folded back copies of the editorial section of the daily newspaper by my breakfast plate every morning from the time I was 7 years old, on.
Who took the time to answer my questions and never made me feel I was imposing on him.
More, after I've had a chance to think about it.

My grandparents, in a positive way.
My parents, in a negative way.
Friends, mostly in a positive way.
Family, in a mixture of positive and negative ways.
Most of all, my wife. She is the one who gave my meaningless life of drift meaning and purpose once more. We have two children and a third due on 14 June.
I owe her more than words can ever say.

Very nice thread, Beth.
Two people who had a great influence on me were professors I had at the University I attended. One was the influence that turned me toward education as a major and teaching as a career.
The other made me realize that, when those around you are in a dither, a small, quiet, sensible voice can speak louder than adding more chaos and confusion. That sounds like an easy thing to figure out, but seeing it in practice day after day helped it stay with me for life.

my Mother and her sister my Aunt as I grew up and had children of my own I came to appreciate the good influences they had had upon my life.they were practising Christians without being santomonious preachy or judgmental..i had a life filled with books ..music.. conversation and laughter and interesting people who joined us for meals..i learnt a great deal about social interation etc etc my blood syblings were always very envious that I had the sort of life they dreamed of
till I was around 16 another great influence was my friend Peter..he died in his 80s when I was around 16... he was a theologian. writer.and keen amature astrologist .. he was also the vicar at the church my Aunt and attended as well as being a family friend if there was a church council meeting after morning service my Aunt would go to it while he and I would have great conversations about almost any thing..he was a most interesting person..
my great uncle Charles was another who i and my cousins learned a great deal from especially about having standards of personal behaviour and taking total responsibility for ones actions good or bad ..
an other was a family friend who I called aunt[as one did back in the day with the friends of parents]she was an other avid reader and had a range of interests..she spoilt me rotton always buying me books on a whole range of subjects[she was of the thinking that one could never read or have enough books] and that no day in life should ever be wasted she was also one who laughed easily and traveled far and wide before the war stopped her traveling..but she made up for it and as soon as the war was over she and her companion re started their wanderings ..

I'm still fairly young. Of all the people I've known, who have been an influence on me, and Beth is one of them, I have to say my daughter, who just turned 5, is the one who has made the biggest difference in my life to this point. She gives me something wonderful every day. This morning, I was brushing her hair and we were talking about a "Princess Party" she's invited to go to this weekend. We finished with her ponytail and I was brushing my hair and applying a little blush. She was tugging on my skirt and saying "Mommy, Mommy" for attention. I turned around with a "Ok, what do you want?", not as patient as I might have been. She looked at me with a huge smile and said, "Mommy, YOU are my princess". I almost crumbled into tears, but managed to give her a hug and a kiss and a thank you. that was just today!
