6 MARCH 2017 | GENEVA - More than 1 in 4 deaths of children under 5 years of age are attributable to unhealthy environments. Every year, environmental risks – such as indoor and outdoor air pollution, second-hand smoke, unsafe water, lack of sanitation, and inadequate hygiene – take the lives of 1.7 million children under 5 years, say two new WHO reports. "A polluted environment is a deadly one – particularly for young children," says Dr Margaret Chan, WHO Director-General. "Their developing organs and immune systems, and smaller bodies and airways, make them especially vulnerable to dirty air and water." Harmful exposures can start in the mother’s womb and increase the risk of premature birth. Additionally, when infants and pre-schoolers are exposed to indoor and outdoor air pollution and second-hand smoke they have an increased risk of pneumonia in childhood, and a lifelong increased risk of chronic respiratory diseases, such as asthma. Exposure to air pollution may also increase their lifelong risk of heart disease, stroke and cancer. www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2017/pollution-child-death/en/And the truth??? It's a lot better than they claim.

is this 3rd or 1st world ...oddly enough we ALL die of some thing
to produce 100% clean air ..every care/lorry/plane/train /factory on the planet would have to be got rid of then every volcano..natural fire..sulphur spring etc would have to be got rid of and even that would not be enough..every breathing animal and human would also have to be got rid of ...then there might be clean air ...but no..every living plant and the spores they shoot into the air then when all living things are gone there might be clean unpolluted air ... but no not even then would the air be clean as the lungs of the planet would have also been destroyed in the cull and all life would be unsustainable the truth is...perfection is unattainable ...but the need to be cleaner exists and should tackled
the one thing which should be banned is hype and hysteria including outright lies of the warnmists

As the new administration gives the go-ahead to roll back the regulations that have given us needed improvements, the likelihood of melt-downs and pollution pockets will increase, multi-fold. The bribe of jobs in exchange for filthy air and water is a scam. Industry could be satisfied with a little less in order to clean up their messes.

I am presuming this article is about America I also presume there are existing rules/laws/regulations in place to deal with the list posted just as they are in every civilised country """"Every year, environmental risks – such as indoor and outdoor air pollution, second-hand smoke, unsafe water, lack of sanitation, and inadequate hygiene"""unsafe water ? isn't that covered by regulation as to the quality of piped water for domestic and consumption.. lack of sanitation ? again isn't that covered by building reglations on all properties and when it comes to factories and work places are there not laws insitu to cover sanitation/air and general hygene and air quality of offices etc which don't have natural light and air
"""Harmful exposures can start in the mother’s womb and increase the risk of premature birth. Additionally, when infants and pre-schoolers are exposed to indoor and outdoor air pollution and second-hand smoke""" mmmmah yes 2nd hand smoke ..no surprise there but theres a failure to mention ..the recycled air of air conditioning to prenatal mothers ..also the journey to work via petrol fumes and 2nd hand air if traveling by subway etc by prenatal mothers

No, it's about the west in general - we all have these 'scares'.
The point is they claim more people are dying than ever before when the reverse is true.

An executive order was signed to eliminate a good many regulations that safeguarded against industry sludge and air filth. We'll see but it we are apparently going backward.

Maybe the reverse is true because we've managed to clean up a bit since the dark ages. Whereas newly emerging economies like China, India etc don't have such legislation or regulation

True. Poor them. Maybe that's how our present (so-called) government is justifying there current dismissal of industry regulations ... "How could it hurt? India and China do it!"
