Some of the household had to be up and out early this a.m. so Maxx the cat decided it was his job to make sure the would-be slackers still in bed (me) joined them. Toaster pastry for 3 gives him a better chance of sharing a morsel. Daylight is just now breaking and I'm going back to bed. Hope your home-day is a nice one, mouse.

yes Beth it was very pleasant...I watched the VJ celebrations...quite sober and rather sad this morning...then a service on horse guards followed by all those there walking down past the Cenotaph and finally to Westminster Abbey for tea one survivor 103 walked the whole way..and the march well more of a wheel chair push was lovely with those involved laughing and joking and the crowds clapping and shaking their hands one Guardsman standing ridged on the route with his baton under his arm broke the rules when an old chap waved to him and he waved back..lots of very human moments the men and women who survived to VJ day were never really given a proper state welcome..they were known as the forgotton army...but today made up for it the Burma star and various other medals were worn with great pride some of them had fought in Western Europe then were moved to fight in the Burman campaign,,UIndia and where ever else they were sent the colours of the various units were also on show 28 of them I think a fitting day for old men and women to remember..especially their comrades who died some wore their chindit head gear...bit like and ozzie drovers hat but with one side of the brim taken upward

Thanks for the pics, Sadie. The Mummer's fest looks to have been fun and a big success.
Glad your day was good, mouse.
The little one and I went swimming yesterday and again with Tommy today. Got about 3 hours sun. Not enough to burn but added a layer of brown. Baby girl is getting to be a pro at going down the slide but always with mom or dad along. She's 3 and maybe too brave so we're still firmly in the picture.

Psst! Isn't the new member the same girl who was too young last time? Maybe she had a birthday since then.

Good morning, Whose. Hope you had a nice time. Maine's a great state, but for some reason it always reminds me of Derry (Stephen King).
