We got new orders last night - now proceeding to Crotone, which is at the north-eastern end of the 'sole' of the 'boot' of Italy. Should be there in a couple of hours, & we then have to wait for the authorities to take charge of our self-discharging cargo...
I am surprised that we're going to mainland Italy though. Ah well...

That's our self-discharging cargo handed over to the Italian authorities; now we can clean the ship up and get back to routines... I had hoped to post a few pics, but our connection isn't allowing me to get onto Photobucket at present - it's too slow

It's a beautiful day here ... a little on the warm side (aka HOT) but no complaints. Have a good time at your craft day, mouse. The dessert sounds delicious. Love the graphics Who and Sugi. KP Errands to run and back later. 3 and 1/2 pages of posts already today and still morning, edt. Wow!

The memories you'll have, the tales you'll tell. Hope everything goes smoothly for all concerned! 'Adventure' isn't the word I'd use, tbh The coasties were all clad in disposable boiler suits, surgical gloves & face masks when disembarking our 'guests'...we have had to hose out the forward store where we had to house them. The bosun & his team were not impressed at the mess left, despite our regularly bringing the people back aft in groups for food, drink, showers & to use the 'facilities'... It's been liberally sprayed with disinfectant now, & they'll do the job again tomorrow... No doubt some folk will say that we should have done things differently; easy to do when sat fat, dumb & happy at a computer terminal in an office, but the decision of the shipboard management team was that the safety of the ship & her complement was paramount, & that is exactly what we did.

Good for you. Sounds pretty terrible to be honest.
I know most people here always dread to have to go meet someone flying in from abroad because it means a time in the International Waiting Room at the airport. There's always a lingering smell of disinfectant and a under-smell of .. er ... ineffective hygiene. Not the English of course but the traffic there is incoming from everywhere.

There's always a lingering smell of disinfectant and a under-smell of .. er ... ineffective hygiene. Not the English of course but the traffic there is incoming from everywhere. It wasn't so much 'poor hygiene' as 'failure to use the emergency facilities' - but the hygiene issue is certainly a valid one too, particularly in a certain area to the south which Tempus and I know well and don't wish to return to...

Just coming in to anchor off Marsaxlokk, Malta. Now to wait for the bunker barge - and we lost our place in the schedule thanks to our unexpected detour to Crotone...
