I signed the lease yesterday on a brand new one bedroom apartment in a senior community about 70 miles north of here in a very small town, pop. 5100, that has no Winco or Walmart!!! I got a special deal with a month free rent and no deposit and rent is based on income so I can survive if I am careful. I will still relocate to Eureka at the end of the year when a unit opens up. I am excited as I have not had my own place in 34 years but am also sad that I will no longer live with my son....we have never been apart so it's going to be a new beginning for the both of us....I keep telling him he now can grow and spread his wings to explore life; he has been patient and helpful in letting me live with him for so long. I even have a doorbell lol for once I have a washer/dryer hookup but won't be using it as in six to eight months will be moving to a place that doesn't have one. so one chapter is closing and another is starting....I will have to drive 30 miles to get to the nearest Walmart to get personal care and food. The two grocery stores in town suck big time meaning they are expensive and dirty. I about gagged when I saw the filthy grocery cart that was all rusted out. A can of tomato soup was priced at $2.38 LOL it is like .88 at winco and walmart There is a casino about twelve miles away and eight miles away is an old theatre that has been reconditioned....there really is nothing there so it will be an adjustment for sure plus the county only has about 25000 people and is heavily repu Go for it Cheffy, as one door closes another one opens. I hope you'll be very happy in your new dwelling place I think I will and it's only for six to eight months then pull up stakes and move another 200+ miles north to a cheaper place and bigger town.

Wishing you all the luck in the world, Chris. Do you have a place for your plants?I am giving most of the outside plants away; am keeping my ficus and Norfolk pine and four houseplants but that is it........without a hose, it's to much trouble with a bucket trying to water to many plants. I have a small patio to put them onI actually did it!!! put two plants in the dumpster and gave away two so am happy. I'm trimming my Norfolk of the dead branches. Now I have to decide whether to part with my grandparents washstand that is over a hundred years old or drag it along.....the top is starting to split and the finish is shot on top so not sure what I'll decide. I have the huge bowl, water pitcher and shaving mug to go with it

Woo hoo ... pictures! Those were wonderful, Tempus. Just you and your gear .. covering distance. Impressive! I'm a walker, too, but the city park and University campus is a far cry from the (comparative) wilderness.
Thanks so much. My favorite is the one you took ... looking back.
I think the difference is that you attach and mouse embeds.

I forgot to mention the weather. Quite nice, as forecast. However, what the photos don't show is the bloody wind. Forecast for light breeze with the odd 20mph gust. Reality was a constant 20-2mph easterly with frequent gust that must have been pushing 30-40mph! Models like these

Everyone enjoy your day. I did the marketing today, too, Joy. I'd rather have the deli chicken as grill but it looks like grill tonight. Pleasant Valley Saturday. Enjoy your weekend!

Hope everybody had a good day. It was a little of everything here. Sun and cool in the morning, rain and muggy this afternoon, sun with a pretty sunset tonight.
Off to pick up my kiddos at their grandmom and dad's and head for home.
Good Night.
