I haven't read this yet; Amazon only notified me about it today but it's refreshing that the guy approached the question of Romani culture, history, language and so on without prejudice or romanticism.
He came among the Roma and drew his own conclusions and judging by the reviews of his book it's a good one and likely to be as much a definitive work as, say, Donald Kenrick and Grattan Puxon's 'The Destiny of Europe's Gypsies.'
