Incidentally, if you pass your test in an automatic over here your licence only permits you to drive automatics. You have to retake it in a manual to get the full range of entitlement on your licence.
Oh, and automatics are (or were - technology has improved in recent years) less economical than manual cars.

but what about rolling backwards in the small time when you take foot off brake and apply gas? it's that damn rolling backwards that annoys me to no end; I have no problems shifting on level ground and getting around.....it's the stopping on a hilltop that gets me Er, there's this other lever next to the gearstick...! This is from my first husband: "Yes, you started to learn in the blue Jeep, but we had to quit to save the clutch; things went much better with the Blazer." That was back in 1972 so I was terrible on the clutch from the beginning although I mastered the art of driving a motorcycle with the clutch......go figure I am just no good in a stick shift stopped on a hill......the emergency brake would just throw one more problem getting going lol I can' imagine buying a manual transmission........ugh. I just get in the car and go. Next time you are in the U.S., stop by and I'll give you a firsthand demonstration of my stopping on a hill without a automatic. lol

shutup!!!!! It's when I get to the top of a hill, have to stop, and then go again.......the damn car starts to roll backwards and I freak so that is why I hate a manual. I used to drive our 4 speed 1972 Ford Courier to the ocean up and down hills and was fine with the shifting and all.......it's only when stopping at an intersection on a hill I have trouble. There's this other lever next to the gearstick... There is indeed!

Why is it crazy on the licence? Seriously, with automatics it's just 'point & squirt', whereas with a manual 'box you have to coordinate clutch & shift, otherwise you can get some VERY expensive noises coming from under the bonnet ('bonnet' used deliberately )

I noticed all my new plants are thriving outdoors so now have to figure out where to put indoor plants as I have no more room outside. I wanted to place some on the kitchen counter but son but the kibash on that so will find room in my bedroom for a few more
If I had land, I would have a jungle in my yard but would be happy.

I wanted to place some on the kitchen counter but son but the kibash on that so will find room in my bedroom for a few more If I had land, I would have a jungle in my yard but would be happy. My parents had a beautifully landscaped yard with flowering trees, gold fish pond and rock garden, borders, climbing roses and (headliner ) a rose garden bordered with a 5 ft. high, evergreen hedge and, inside, a circular bed for 3 "peace" rose plants, plus stepping stone walkways and 4 rectangular rose beds .. plus borders and, at the back an arbor type arch with climbing pink roses and a wooden bench that I never saw anyone use except us children. I can't ever live up to that, so am happy with my imperfect borders, a couple of dogwoods and one bed for (mostly) annuals. I'd love to see you have one like theirs was, Chris, because you'd enjoy it so much.
