things are really happening at long last..have weeded and weeded till my nails are quite runined...but the results will be less work in the summer months... all the primulas are now in flower and the denticulaters and the white rock so while its still a little sparce there is at least some colour.. can see am going to have to do some dividing and nurtureing this spring to get things back to where they were..clumps of colour instead of isolated patches all down to the awful wet which has runed so many roots took some day lilys up[they of course thrive in the wet]which had put them selves into places they shouldn't be the daffodils in the tubs are doing well as are the grape hyacynths so lots of colour there the tulips have put on a great spurt but wont flowere just yet

The dogwoods are in bloom which seals the deal on this current little cold snap. It's Dogwood Winter. What are the others ... Redbud Winter, Snowball Winter and, finally, toward the end of May, Blackberry Winter. Are there any more? Sometimes Snowball Winter, in honor of the clusters of tiny white flowers that grow together to form a big white ball of fluff, is called Honey Locust Winter. It depends on the part of the country where these particular plants are common. Here's an article by an east Tennessean who seems to be an authority. samsons1.hubpages.com/hub/the-Three-Winters-after-Spring

have pricked out a few of the chilis which are thriving...a couple of weeks and they should be large enough to go in individual pots had a tomato plant given to me just over a week ago.. and its got flower buds showing..am keeping it in the porch which is the warmest place right now... bought a couple of plants but its too early and too cold to plant them out so am surrounded by plants being nurtured till the weather changes things are pushing through out side.. but the cold has brought the leaves unfurling to a full stop again the tulips and the daffs are viberant and because its cold they are lasting longer

That's pretty Cheffy. I can see how you like to sit out there.
We've got green onions and leaf lettuce that will be ready before long. Green peppers too but they take awhile longer.

I added two lilac bushes today and may go back for a few more and then I'm done as I will be out of room........I just enjoy being out there I would love a garden but obviously no room but envy those with fresh veggies to eat

was given a tomato plant a couple of weeks ago..its still quite small but has its first truss of flower heads so perhaps its going to be one of those heavy fruiting types the garden is now quite colourful with yellows..whites.. pinks and purples... the clematis are coming along well and it looks as though it may be a good year for honey suckle the tulips have been very vibrant as have the grape hyacinths which have really been quite a show...
I would love a balcony......daughter had one in London and it was so pleasant sitting on it surrounded by her pot plants watching the world go by

We refer to plants being grown on pots as 'pot plants' - and if you need to put them in a bigger pot as the root ball gets bigger, that's referred to as 'potting on'

plants being grown in pots are "potted plants" here so that is why I got a good chuckle out of Mouse's use of the words and as the plant outgrows it's container it's transplanted
