We've had fewer deer than usual for the past couple of winters. I think the city council has brought in animal relocation to move some of them to a more secluded, wooded area. We have in-town woods but they are small enough that the animals (especially the deer) come out into the suburban areas and get on the roads with unfortunate results. Also, of course, lovely as they are, they can be pests .. jumping fences and ruining gardens and borders.
I think you have a better eye for change than I do, mouse. Everything still appears to be winter-dead here. Hoping for some signs of spring, soon.

had a close up look at the garden...one of the honey suckles has leafed already..which is a bit odd and its always the 2nd honey suckle to flower the daffs and the tulips are pushing up green even though the ground is frozen..and one or two things are well in bud..but will need some milder weather before they show green am hoping the acer has survived the winter in general the flowers beds look scruffy and work is needed...but not just yet and some cat is once more using our garden for its toilet....which is not at all nice or welcome

the roses have leafed but its too early to prune them back..and lots of plants pushing through because of the sun of the last few days...although the forcast is for cold weather after the weekend i need to go on a spend for new plants and start to decide what i am growing in veg this year....peas are a definite not sure about beans...potatos also a maybe as last years were a dismal failure the end crop not worth the trouble...peppers are another maybe one thing i need to grow this year is more hot chillies.....the last lot i grew a couple of years ago then dried are just begining to run out

the buds on shrubs and trees are full fat and ready to burst making the every where green again just a little sun and slightly higher temps are needed....the blackbirds in the eaves above my window are adding to or repairing their nest..they come swooping in looking as though they will crash into the window and then suddenly veer up.... and i can hear them chattering...

Plants on the sunny side of my borders are getting ready to bud out. It has been mostly cold here but with plenty of sunshine. It won't be much longer until we have some blooms.

That's a good tip, mouse. What I hate, when walking in the dark, is the crunch of snails underfoot... that is disgusting!!!! sprinkling salt on the little beggars ruins their day

maybe I'm deranged, but if I was leaving, I would put the snails under my car tires so when I backed up, they were goners!!!!!

Hey mouse, I am waiting to see if my Cyclamen plant has survived the winter. Remember when you were horrified that I planted it outside last autumn? Will let you know!

The dogwoods should start to bloom sometime this coming week. It seems they are late this year but that may only be because Easter was so early. I have pics of Easters past in which the azaleas are in full bloom and the dogwood blossoms are just opening up.

due to rain and sun things are pushing up...but there are considerable gaps where plants have died and theres a definite tinge of green now... the arch of roses looks in a bad way..but its just too early to see if it needs to come out and be replaced..i hope it survives. its both pretty and smells good the forsythia is just showing yellow a bit of sun and it will really spring to life and colour primulas are well out giving a splash of much needed colour too..pinks..yellows and white cannot see any sign of life from the lilly of the valley the chilis are coming along fine and another week or so and they may be ready for potting on..am hoping for a good crop and so another year of gardening begins
