Have you ever visited the Taj Mahal? That is on the top ten of my list of places to see Yes, several times. It is well worth visiting but I like to give it the time it deserves. The Taj Express from Delhi reaches Agra about noon and departs Agra about 4:30pm to reach Delhi at about 7 pm. Most tourists do the day trip. I would spend at least one night. I usually have spent two or three. A fabulous shot is the first view of Taj framed in the entrance arch of the gate that you have to pass through. Then the view with the reflections in the long pools is one to savour. But that's not just it. The setting is also worth seeing. The gardens around the Taj are worth soending some time in. Sit down in the shade on an autumn's afternoon and just take in the tranquility and poise. The view of the Taj directly across from the other side of River Jamuna is worth seeing. Not many do that. It's possible to hire a boat on the Jamuna and see it from the water, as well. But one should see not just the Taj but surrounding areas as well, especially the Agra Fort, for its historical connotations and other architectural sights on the area, e.g Fatehpur Sikri and Dayal Bagh. As you know, cricket is popular in India and especially so in Kolkata. Just like football in Britain, I suppose. And just as folks are likely to kick a ball around in any open space here, so are folks in Kolkata. We found ample evidence of that even from our balcony.... Our flat was in the first floor of the house in the background in the next photo. Yes, cars were going past in the half width of the road not being used as the pitch. Didn't seem to bother the bowlers, the batsmen, the foelders or the drivers; much less the pedestrian on-lookers. ++++++++++++++++++++++++ I also mentioned the sit-and-draw competition that took place on the street in front of our flat. Here is a picture. Prashna
