Well, he wasn't dealing with ladies either, Fret.
These two women were physically attacking him; he could have shot them, tasered them, hit them with batons or abused them royally.
He just dished out one well-judged punch.
What's wrong with that?
I'm glad there are police officers who are not afraid to do the right thing even if it ISN'T seen as politically correct!

That's as maybe, Mike, but sinking to that level does not help. I'm amazed that you appear to be advocating that men can/should punch a woman. An arm lock would have been a lot better.

He's no gentleman that's for sure. while there is never an excuse for hitting a woman, the cop was obviously entirely justified. he was being assaulted by a convicted felon. for sure, she deserved to get shot and killed, but, he simply gave her a little smack. this worthless c..t should be in the morgue

An arm lock would have been a lot better. no, an arm lock was not even a remotely viable option. that would have necessitated HIM being hit several times. he did not "sink" to any level. he showed himself to be a million times better than she. mike never even intimated that it is okay for a man to hit a woman. he is however, pointing out the FACT that the cop would have been totally justified to have shot and killed the worthless bytch

Of course I am not suggesting that it is okay for a man to hit a woman. On the other hand, this is a police officer being physically attacked by two women. If they carry on like that then they are asking for trouble. I am somewhat surprised at the officer's restraint. He certainly did nothing wrong and used minimum force. Good grief, we are not talking about a man decking his girlfriend!

I would have liked to have seen what came prior to the video. Seems like he was man-handling her from the beginning of it. But, it's unlikely he'd have been man-handling her straight away for jay walking ~~ there's more to it, IMO.
I'll also note that there's a guy who tries to drag the lady in pink away before the punch, and then succeeds in dragging her away from the middle of it, afterward.

Well, my attitude is pretty simple. If you're going to go around assaulting other people - cops or civilians - you have to EXPECT that some of them are going to defend themselves.
If you're a woman and you start hitting a bloke you've got NO right to complain if he hits you back.

It would be difficult to find too people LESS likely to support the police than Lin and myself. Lin had a landlord who was both an officer in the drugs squad and a drug dealer, who also supplied her with drugs and tried to extort sex from her in return until I told him in no uncertain terms that my father was a personal friend of the Chief Constable and would see him not simply working traffic but almost certainly fired; she also saw a police officer lie and plant evidence on a suspect; I physically watched a police officer beating up a teenage girl who offered NO provocation at all.
It is clear from this video that the policeman WAS being physically attacked himself.
The right of self-defence is one of our most cherished freedoms which is yet another reason why the ban on guns is so indefensible.
The simple reality is that this policeman would NOT have hit the woman if she had not been hitting him.
I firmly support his right to defend himself using minimum force.
That in no way affects my distrust and contempt for a large number of police officers!

So you played the same game then, Mike. My dad knows.....
I don't need anyone to tell me the tricks that the filth get up to, I've seen it all.
You want a gun, you can get a licence for one - unless you have a 'colourful' past, that is.
There is no per se ban on guns.

Fret, I didn't enjoy having to play the 'old school tie' card but if I see a person in need I'll do whatever it takes. This policeman was corrupt and I would do the same thing again in similar circumstances. The safety and well-being of someone I love is worth far more to me than bending the law or using influence (much as I regret the fact that it was necessary for me to resort to those tactics.)
