Erasmus is our new moderator for Deep Thought.
We're happy he accepted our invitation and know he'll do us proud.
We've been very lucky with finding mods for that particular topic. Mike Marshall did a fine job for over a year, and Erasmus has been one of the most frequent Deep Thought posters - thereby, qualifying himself to pick up the torch and continue in the fine tradition set by Mike.
Let's welcome him and post in DT when we can.
Very best regards to you, Erasmus!
Beth

Congratulations, Erasmus!
I am sure you will do a fine job in your new position
Perhaps you may be better able than I was to generate wider interest in more philosophical topics.
I would like to thank Beth for her kind words (I have already thanked the other people who resoonded to my resignation post.)
Unfortunately my health issues have become worse over the last few months and it was not possible for me to fulfil my duties to the standard that I felt acceptable.
That is why I felt it would be better to resign and simply become an ordinary member, released from the pressure of feeling that I had to contribute on a more or less daily basis. I wish you well, Erasmus.
You are always an interesting poster and I am sure you will bring quite different perspectives to many issues.
Good luck and many congratulations!

Modesty of course knew about this a few days ago. It's not particularly nice to have the dead man's shoes feeling (though I trust Mike's health issues are not that bad!)
If there's likely to be much in the way of change, it is maybe stepping to consider some of the more reliable fringe topics gathered in Conspiracy Journal. Of course today's has not been particularly inspiring. Then there is the kind of leading science in New Scientist that can sound more like the writings of Elena Blavatsky and Aleister Crowley than anything we were taught in school science. Unfortunately they come with big Copyright and (free) subscription only notices, so will need to be paraphrased.
I am not a believer in Indigo Children and World Enlightenment to a New Awareness - partly because these things have been going on for ever (in fact played a part in the foundation of Christianity) and partly because I actually know something about the Mayan calendar systems. On the other hand, I probably will be evangelising for some of my own beliefs. It's rather difficult not to come from a particular point of view.
