petitions.number10.gov.uk/PolygraphTest/ Lie detectors are considered accurate enough to use in parole applications and post-parole in order to check that an offender (and/or alleged offenders) are not re-offending. They are not used pre-trial as they are considered to be inaccurate. Both assertions cannot be true! Please sign this petition if you have not already done so. Many thanks

Could rebound. A paranoid pathological liar will pass a polygraph because they believe their own fantasy and their mental condition may be withheld from consideration as a matter of medical confidentiality. On the other hand, an innocent person may be much more perturbed and anxious under pressure as to whether they remember correct or not. Polygraph evidence could have the effect of swaying a jury to ignore evidence that just does not add up, because the testifier was so self-convinced.
