I first met Beth on Big Lin's board well over 10 years ago. She persuaded me to join her in this venture. The truth is Beth was the driving force who created this forum and made it what it was. I was merely pulled along in the slipstream. And for that I thank her.
She was very warm, kind, considerate and so much more; a beautiful person. I will miss her greatly. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family.
There is a new star in the heavens tonight
RIP beth
Love

Did Beth take the board over from Peter Leakey ? I forget the name of his board but I vaguely remember it's inception. I also remember Riotgrrrl wanting to start a board and maybe she took over James St Georges board ? it's hazy because all my brain cells killed by booze.

We started this board from scratch in 2010. It was originally called Jencin before we took out the domain name of Gates of Babylon. Previous to that we were both members of Lin Marshall's A Bit of This and a Bit of That.

You used to post on another board though, Rosie, Tempus Fugit, Weyland, Old Holborn (and myself of course) James St George.

Lin told me the sad news today. She has written an elegy for Beth and will post it tomorrow.
I can only say how sad I am to hear of her passing. She was a lovely lady!

In Loving Memory of Beth:
The cold American winter closed you down, folding your hands and eyes in restful sleep as a stopped clock ceases to run away with the seconds and you, once so vividly alive, pass into shadow and memory
the home in which you lived is quieter now, robbed by death’s coldness of your warm presence, and the sound of your laughter vanished, at best an echo lingering in the suddenly silenced air
so many years we shared in cyberspace, and you, intelligent and kind, often restrained my quick temper with your wise words
we often disagreed, but there was always mutual respect and even affection; a light has been quenched in the ether, a damp chill shrouds the air with your passing
fragrance of you still loiters even now, and the bells of your determination ring as if defying your untimely summons to leave our mortal shell
I trust in God, knowing that He will cherish You, and embrace you in His loving arms, As one more angel enters heaven’s gates, Receiving your just soul into new life
