Thomas Jefferson Byrd who was an actor and a friend of Spike Lee shot himself in the back several times before throwing the gun away before dying.

Byrd was 70 years old and had a history of mental health problems.

Thomas Jefferson got his name from the $2 bill which is all his poor Mommy had when he was born.
