Half of Beirut was flattened by the warehouse explosion of chemicals, residents ran out into the streets after the bang looking to see if any Israeli warplanes were overhead, such is life in the middle east. How any normal folk could allow a large quantity of explosive materials to be stored like that is a mystery, nobody can say they didn't know it was dangerous either, the IRA used to pack milk churns full of the stuff then put a gallon of diesel oil in then a detonator and make a cheap but effective bomb. It's a shame about Beirut, it used to be the most lewd Capital City on earth which catered to every perversion known to man, the night life was out of this world and not expensive either but that was back in the good old days, my Buddy was a good friend of the Mayor of Beirut and got to know all the fleshpots at first hand, then came the civil war and the spiral into chaos, a pity. I do hope the Cedar Trees were not damaged !

Just as an update, the virtue-signallers that infest global politics are actually sending money to Beirut !!! I suppose they consider the storing of nearly 3 thousand tons of explosives near your Capital city's downtown, is normal ??

The Ammonium Nitrate was high grade stuff especially designed and made to be used in explosives but the destination was Mozambique where they use the chemical to make explosives for mining.
