What do you think would work better, Joe? No freedom of speech? A total dependence on Twitter to see who Trump is threatening at any time of day? I'm not suggesting censorship. I'm suggesting the mainstream media are opposed to critical thinking. The sooner they collectively go out of business, the better off we all are. Trump is at least honest about his opinions. The "mainstream" media are not. They actually try to convince people they're not only objective but somehow important. Trump is no more a dictator than Lincoln or Franklin Roosevelt was. It's always the party out of party crying "dictatorship."

His enablers seem to be delighted to assist him in his efforts. Some of us wonder why. If the main stream media can help keep us advised of what's going on with this administration that alone gives them merit.

Are you suggesting Donald Trump has critical thinking ability? He's beating the mass media, isn't he? Of course he is not a Dictator, but many of us suspect that is his ambition. I hope so. With Congress falling into line, of course. His enablers seem to be delighted to assist him in his efforts. Some of us wonder why. You have too much time on your hands. Stop wondering. If the main stream media can help keep us advised of what's going on with this administration that alone gives them merit. They're not even trying. All they do is regurgitate leftist speculation and accusation, and react to his tweets. When there existed real journalism (I was a journalist myself), opinion was printed inside the paper, not on the front page, and there wasn't partisan bickering on television 24/7. These are different times, with the mass media now irrelevant, and the American voter now simply cleaves to those whose thinking matches his own. Political parties are doomed, and, by extension, so are the mass media -- as you define them.

You sound like a big Twitter fan, Joe.
Whatever floats your boat, but let's be honest, it's mostly a propaganda mill for Trump. Thank goodness anybody can talk back.
I'm not sure what MSM you've been reading but CNN, Politico and MSNBC DO have Opinion marked as such.

You sound like a big Twitter fan, Joe. Nope. Never used it, or care to. I don't get the point. Whatever floats your boat, but let's be honest, it's mostly a propaganda mill for Trump. Thank goodness anybody can talk back. It's all propaganda. I'm not sure what MSM you've been reading but CNN, Politico and MSNBC DO have Opinion marked as such. Indistinguishable from what is offered as objective. Any piece with the word "crisis" in it is an opinion piece. That includes most of what is published or aired.

It's hard to be completely objective but all things considered, the big news networks do a pretty good job. If they are airing opinion, they say so.

the big news media are far from objective and only tell you what the powers that want you to know... Boris has told his MPs to ignore channel four...and there is a movement against the BBC not only to stop it being able to charge the licence fee.. but to stop government funding and to look into its pro eu bias ..... not forgetting the down right lies of Netflix that are taken for truth.....the papers too are coming under fire.. I think every one is pretty disgust the the lies and misinformation past off as truth.. what ever happened to responsible journalism.....the Guardian is one of the worst offenders.. far worse than the tabloids

Trump deserves a Nobel prize for sticking two fingers up to the climate alarmism industry. I know little on the domestic side, and that's your affair, anyway. The Tory manifesto is a sign of things to come – an elected dictator www.independent.co.uk/voices/tory-manifesto-conservative-boris-johnson-dictator-general-election-brexit-a9216861.htmlThe left can't mention anything at all without hyping it up to the nth degree. Johnson just won a huge majority among the working classes. The left are no friends of democracy Several hundred noisy Antifa protesters marched through central London to protest against the election result, disrupting traffic and chanting "Boris Johnson: Not My Prime Minister" and "Boris, Boris, Boris: Out, Out, Out".www.thesun.co.uk/news/10549353/protesters-clash-police-downing-street-boris-johnson/Unless the vote goes their way. If the Democrats keep up the leftward lurch, Trump wil be a shoe-in.

The folks who hate Trump the most can't remember the last time an incumbent president lost re-election. They actually thing their feelings matter.

I doubt it. They DO label opinion articles as "opinion" and they use a good many quotes in their news reports. You'd have to twist and turn it to think it's all propaganda. Of course that's the impression Trump and his goons want you to have.

I think Trump will probably win but I hope he does not. He doesn't deserve it and we sure don't deserve him for 4 more years. I'll give it more thought when we know who else is running.

A lot of things could happen between now and election day. After all, voters know more about Trump than just some of the promises and lies from last time. It's too soon to make any kind of predictions.

I have no idea whether it calls its self a movie channel or not ….nor who owns it and the Guardian wouldn't know the truth if it lept up and bit its editorial staff on the backbone

The folks who hate Trump the most can't remember the last time an incumbent president lost re-election. They actually thing their feelings matter. Interestingly, there was a programme on the radio this morning on the impeachment of Andrew Johnson. That's where the BBC is. The left elites are way superior to the common man. They know what is best, they signal their pity and their virtue. I doubt when 2020 finally arrives there will be that great a difference over there: There is something nauseating about those with access to a media platform urging people to vote on behalf of the vulnerable. It reduces voting to an act of charity. Engaging in democracy is presented as akin to bunging a few quid to a homeless person. Worse, public declarations of voting for the vulnerable risked turning the election into a massive act of virtue-signalling. It has allowed some – mainly high-profile, wealthy individuals – to present themselves as morally superior. Unlike the rest of us, they wouldn’t be thinking of their own interests when casting a vote.www.spiked-online.com/2019/12/17/voters-dont-want-your-pity/As my [black] neighbour told me before the last local council elections, I'm voting with my pocket. He voted Conservative. Sensible man.
