Zinoviev - remembered in Britain as the alleged author of the "Zinoviev Letter" which caused a sensation when published on October 25, 1924, four days before a general election.

Kamenev - brother-in-law of Leon Trotsky.

Trotsky - first People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs

Stalin - needs no introduction.

Sokolnikov - he and Stalin were given joint control over Bolsheviks newspapers.

Bubnov - member of the Military Revolutionary Committee, helped organize the October Revolution

Except the first Politburo had to get a revolution - ie do some graft.

The EU politburo are repaid for favours done.
