'How could this happen again?' Why this Catholic abuse scandal seems worse than 2002 This is how bad things are in the Catholic Church right now: The Pope's top adviser on clergy sexual abuse canceled a trip to Ireland for a papal event because he has to investigate sexual misconduct in his own seminary. And Cardinal Sean O'Malley of Boston, president of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, isn't alone. Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, another key papal ally embroiled in the sex abuse crisis, has also canceled his appearance at next week's World Meeting of Families, a spokesman told CNN. www-m.cnn.com/2018/08/19/us/catholic-sex-abuse-outrage/index.html?r=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F

What's the matter with these people. Let the Priests get married for goodness sake.
Upgrade their situation!

if these people are into children then no amount of marital sex with cure them of their perversion....pedophillia is not curable
the scandle appears to be not so much the abuse which every one is aware of...…. but the role of the church in dealing with it ... that appears to be the real scandle and what people are so angry about ….and the internal ways of dealing with these cases which are far from satisfactory or in line with any form of justice the church appears to be almost incapable of dealing with the crimes of its employees...and covers up to try and lessen the impact on the reputation of the church ….which has turned out to be an own goal the people I feel sorry for are those good and decent men and women who are now looked at askance

So terrible. Our local parishes are far removed from anything like that and believe me all of us there are disgusted and saddened. Hard to believe the churches members and innocent clergy had no clue. Too trusting.

Back in the dim and distant past Priests were allowed to be married and there was even a special red light district in Rome which catered to the needs of the clergy. I forgot the exact details but I seem to remember some Pope decided that Priests had to be celibate and the Roman Church even issued guidelines to Priests, one of which was saying they were allowed to masturbate but ejaculation was forbidden. Religion is the giving of power to some over others, simple as that ! it is a business that manages to avoid Tax too ? Have you ever heard of the Vatican paying any Taxes ??

It was the first German to become Bishop of Rome, the mad monk Hildebrand who took the name of Gregory VII, who introduced clerical celibacy. Before his time it was common for clergy to be married. And of course the taigs have been pushing their satanic salt ever since. As the late Ian Paisley said to John Paul George and Ringo, 'I renounce you as the antiChrist.'
