www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5846531/The-agony-British-girls-forced-illegally-marriage.htmlMeanwhile, the government’s own Forced Marriage Unit was contacted about 1,196 cases in 2017. Of these roughly 30 per cent involved victims below the age of 18. The largest number related to London, followed by the West Midlands, Yorkshire and the Humber Three-quarters related to women. Since it was established in 2005, the FMU has handled cases connected to more than 90 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America. In 2017, the countries with the highest proportion of cases were Pakistan, 37 per cent, Bangladesh, 11 per cent, followed by Somalia and India. With criminal prosecutions rare, preventative action can be taken through the civil courts. Since 2008 more than 1,500 Forced Marriage Protection Orders have been granted. These can be sought by the local authority, police or individuals. A judge can attach any conditions believed necessary to prevent a forced marriage, including requiring passports to be handed over. A breach of the order is a criminal offence punishable by up to five years behind bars. But still the concern is that the authorities are too slow to react — and that one of the main stumbling blocks is political correctness

forced matrriage should not be confused with arranged marriage..[where either man or woman can refuse] a member of this message board had himself been party to an arranged marriage and had no regrets about it and was happily married.. another poster on an other board now defunct also had an arrange marriage and he too had no complaints .. and having seen photos of both the poster and his wife and families... a happier relaxed family group group you couldn't wish to see..they were Hindus though not muslim
the whole article is worth a read as it well illustrsates the problem... same for FGM this is a dangerous time of the year for these girls.. where the abuses can be hidden during the long summer educational break

I can't imagine who you could be talking about and I have been here for years. Also, why did you "like" your own post?

Prashna was one and he was not only a member of this message board but another one both fret and I belonged to .. as did cahn or cain I called him [though he was never a member here.. ill health took him of postings sadly ] ...so I got to know them quite well.. and had a lot of time for both of them....Cain and I were at loggerheads but away from posting we exchanged pm and emails and chatted about all sorts including families of whom both men were very proud and rightly so .. Prashna too in fact I still have photos some where of them and their families ...and miss them both as posters
