A judge hearing an appeal to allow seriously-ill Alfie Evans to be transferred to Rome for treatment says there cannot be a 'legal Groundhog Day' where the parents 'come back again and again on the same point'.
Lawyers representing Tom Evans, 21, and Kate James, 20, have asked Court of Appeal judges in London to reconsider Alfie Evans' case.
The couple, who are from Liverpool, have already lost fights in the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and European Court of Human Rights.
Lord Justice Davis, who is heading the three-strong panel of appeal judges, told lawyers that at the start of the hearing that doctors had agreed that there was "no hope".
He said: "We cannot have a kind of legal 'Groundhog Day' where you come back again and again and again on the same point."
A second appeal judge, Lady Justice King, said doctors' unanimous opinion was that Alfie "could not be saved"."""""
it seems to be the father pushing this case.. and its so sad because the general medical concensus is that the little boys brain has turned to much from the infection
and now there are groups of Alfies supporters making noises and upsetting patcients.. the other day motor bikes were reving and facing etc
the father has said he wants to take the child home ... and its getting so ludicrous that perhaps he should take the boy home where he will die... because he is incapable of living without life support and perhaps that is the only way to get through to the parents of this little boy
its very sad the child contracted the infection that has taken away all semblance of life... yet the parents remain unconvinced...
there was an other case like this a few yrs ago... the parents went on and on about how their baby had a right to live... they didn't seem to understand that Hannah was not only blind.. deaf and dumb with absolutely no independent movement any where in her body she was kept alive by machine .. she was also prone to fits .. the doctors wanted to pull the plug on the poor little thing .... as existing is not life....
but the parents said no and they wouldn't have it .. they insisted they took her home [they also had the same sort of verbal support group as Alfie
and so their home was rigged up and Hannah went home finaly with them
they kept her 2weeks and then said it was too much for them to cope with ... even though they had begged and gone though all leagal channels ... I don't know if that little girl is still alive... but who in their right mind would subject any living creature to such an existence.... its beyond cruel
