'It's beyond arrogant to think you can do better than Agatha Christie!' Ordeal By Innocence viewers slam ending of BBC drama as the killer is unmasked... but NOT the one from the book Final episode of BBC's star-studded Agatha Christie adaptation aired last night Ordeal by Innocence inspired by the much-loved crime writer's 1958 book The murder of wealthy heiress Rachel Argyll is at the heart of the mystery In the book she was killed by bitter housekeeper, Kirsten Lindstrom But her husband Leo Argyll, played by Bill Nighy, revealed as killer in drama By Kerry Mcdermott For Mailonline Published: 11:13, 16 April 2018 | Updated: 11:24, 16 April 2018 The final episode of the BBC's lavish Agatha Christie adaptation Ordeal by Innocence aired last night - and the dramatically altered ending sparked outrage among the crime writer's die-hard fans. Far from taking pains to remain faithful to the plot of the much-loved crime writer's 1958 murder mystery, the BBC version went so far as to change the identity of the killer. In the original story, wealthy but overbearing mother-of-five Rachel Argyle is murdered by the family housekeeper, Kirsten Lindstrom. I would have thought Christie's estate could sue for such a fundamental change in the plot and yet presenting it as being her work.

would what this writer has done come under plagerism in that the writer is using all the Christies plot and character.... I read somewhere that Christie's older work is not still under copyright, but even if this one is, couldn't the producers pay the trust (or family) to be allowed to make the change? I hope someone makes this one available to the U. S.. I'd like to see it.

I watched half an hour and found it really hard going[and wasn't aware of the alterations ]and very dull ..so much so I switched over... where usually AC with a good cast can keep me watching I thought Bill Nighy badly cast..far too wishy washy

This is the new black. Rewriting fiction as well as history.
So much education yet so little talent.

Christie died in 1976 so her work is still in copyright for another 70 years.
If her grandson gave permission I can't understand why.
Surely he can't need the money?
