This started yesterday (28th) so I thought it might be a system glitch one end or the other. Since it's still continuing, I guess it isn't. I can post and modify OK but the window stays put. I need to get out back to the thread manually to find that it has posted. Any ideas?

Erasmus, I'm not having this problem, though it's been my experience ProBoards does glitch now and then, but usually makes a comeback. I suspect that's when the servers reset themselves, but not sure by any means.
Is it still acting up? Maybe when Fret gets home from work, he'll have time to take a look.

Iceweasel 3.5.17 - equivalent to Firefox same. I haven't tried any other but I haven't had the problem except here either. I don't know whether it's Proboards because this is the only one of theirs that I post on and other systems are OK. I wanted to check if there was anything known first. It might be worth poking about with other browsers then although most of them are very similar Mozilla Gecko based.

Try Chrome, that and IE work fine. So does Firefox 3.6.16. yeah, but firefox 4 TOTALLY sucks. i made the mistake of downloading it because it said it was faster. the reality is that it is ten times slower. taking two minutes to scroll down a page is ridiculous. unfortunately, they also sneak in the stupid freecorder toolbar. after an hour, i went back to 3.6, but am still stuck with the idiotic freecorder that i haven't figured out how to get rid of since the computer doesn't know anything about it

I've just tried Konqueror but that won't let me log in - maybe because I'm logged in through here already. The most likely bets are that I'm not sending the address correctly or that it's taking too long to reply and cutting out. It wouldn't surprise me if if goes away because there's continuous updating. I don't know the difference between Firefox and Iceweasel but it is something to do with Debian's privacy policy that FF 2 or 3 included something (I think) that was not pure open source, so they replaced that component. There are a few add-ons that aren't compatible, one of them being Photobucket link (I'm having trouble there too but it looks like something I've seen before)

Or Ubuntu if you're not too fussy.

Just an update on that. It is a Debian problem because no problems with Windows. Ubuntu? Gnome based - can't abide that. I did look at Kubuntu (KDE GUI as you might guess) and suitably impressed. However, since both are Debian offshoots and I like the option to use XFCE and other GUIs even though I rarely do, I prefer to stick with the generic than to restrict myself to the specific. In any case, I have no certainty that any other system would prove better. I suppose I could check Slax and Puppy CDs to see if they work any better and then go through the arduous task of tracking down just what it is that is working 'better'.
My Flash-Youtube lost sound a week or so ago. Since Adobe have not bothered to update their 64-bit 'experimental' since last December, it's not on their side, and I guess any Linux update would run into the same problem. Actually, when I can be arsed to bother, I think I'll put it back to 32-bit with wrapper because that worked most of the time.
