I am 7 miles east or west away from a hospital.. there is an air ambulance service for the direrest of eventualities plus once the sirens are heard road traffic quickly leaves a gap for essential services cold and windy with a slate grey sky bussy time to day and I only just realised its after 10 am... eeeeek...gotta go Hi Mouse, Keeping in mind that the people manning the ambulance will be working on the patient with the best care that they can muster, so there is no real worry.

I have a friend who was once treated in hospital for inhaling smoke in connection with a home fire.

Don't for get the average life span was generally 30-35 for males and 28ish for females[if they lasted that long] ... the smoke in huts would be mainly in the winter months.. summer months the cooking would be outside

as I said when the need is fast fast then the medical chopper is used Hi Mouse, I presume that you are insured or a paid up member of the amblance system? its part of the NHS.. so its a service available to ALL who need it .. I live in an area of.. walking .climbing.. rock climbing .caving thermal flying.. gliding ...etc etc many places being inaccess by any thing other than a helicopter.. some times a working landrover can be used.. but that would not be suitable for spine injuries

Maybe the short life span had something to do with the smoke they were inhaling!

I am not sure whether it is Proboards or my computer but I am having problems! The screen is freezing up and making it difficult to navigate the forum.
Leaving for now but shall try again later.

if anyone is considering buying a Pepsi Fire soda pop, don't waste your $1.99 unless you are fond of atomic fireballs.
my son warned me but I failed to listen and wasted money.

It turned out the surgery to remove pellet from his throat was more dangerous than leaving it in....it's still in there.
