I'm sorry you aren't having more summer, mouse. I wish I could send you some of this sunshine. Since you sometimes get our weather a few days later, maybe it will find it's way to you. We have made a tough decision, but I think it will work out for the best. We are going to limit our time in the country to a couple of "vacation" weeks around the end of this month. Neither of us are getting younger and it is such a load off our minds to be near a hospital and have less upkeep and bother living in town. We do not have as much backyard here but we are not far from my son who says his lawn is our lawn. My daughter and her children will continue staying at the other house, keeping things in good shape for us. It is a relief to have that decision made and be able to plan ahead for the warm weather.

Ouch, mouse! Best wishes for things to warm up for you, soon. Jessie, you're doing the smart things. Nothing falls into place well if you have a cloud of worry stalking you. Now you can relax and enjoy the summer ... your way. 2 more days work left for me and then off until September. How lovely.

I think that was a very wise decision..I don't know your age but at 65, I like being close to medical services. I spent one year, 2014-2015 ten miles from hospital and wasn't comfortable with that. At least your daughter is there so the home is under good care so you don't have that worry.

Ditto what Chef said. I'm about 4 blocks from the nearest fully staffed, highly rated hospital. I'm not planning on an emergency, but it's good to know they are handy, just in case.

I am 7 miles east or west away from a hospital.. there is an air ambulance service for the direrest of eventualities plus once the sirens are heard road traffic quickly leaves a gap for essential services
cold and windy with a slate grey sky bussy time to day and I only just realised its after 10 am... eeeeek...gotta go

In the country, we are 15 miles from the nearest hospital. In town, it is a 5 minute drive.
Not only the hospital and Dr.'s offices are closer, but everything is more convenient.
Still, I love the extra space. Who knows, we may get out there and end up staying the rest of the summer. Time will tell.

I grew up 30 miles from a hospital and 20 miles from a doctor but no one batted an eye back then....now I'm five minutes away.
another overcast day with chance of showers but not complaining....long as it is sunny for the fair at the end of the month.

People get smarter about things like that as they get older. We have sprinkles today and it's a little cooler (70s F) but nice.

My parents started out farming, they bought a two room house with barn and tons of land, so that is how we ended so far away from town...school was 14 miles away. Overcast here and higher humidity today...shall stay home and cook.

very dark and dismal again today,, with fierce gusting winds and heavey rain showers.. the garden is looking very battered now
election day has dawned.. where our fates will be decided.. .. the thought of corbyn winning and being in number 10 is appalling.. though of course not every one thinks so.... refusing to accept the result appears to be par for elections now...so no doubt regardless of the result there will some trouble some where

have just been to vote....looks like its a heavy poll here.. which in governmental election is a direct contest between labour and conservative the majority of voters live in semi or fully rural areas and I saw some thing I have never seen before when entering a polling station a large notice om a prominent place which tells the electorate what is acceptable behaviour in a polling station ... duh !!? what the devil is going on ? I wasn't the only one to notice...every one who saw it raised their eyebrows.. what on earth has happened to this country which used to expect civilised behaviour as a norm..how have we come to this ..that notices appear at polling stations telling voters how to behave ....sheeeeeeeeesh

The rain showers yesterday have left everything fresh and sweet smelling. I noticed the market place has put the big pots of geraniums and roses on sale. I may go get a couple for the front steps before the day is over. Maybe the geraniums because someone told me the roses have large thorns. I hope all here are having a very nice Thursday. Mouse, I hope your side wins the election. That should give you a good day in spite of the bad weather.
